The job holder will be a key member of the ISC Polyurethane Technology & Innovation (T&I) team, based in Chakan, Pune. As part of the broader Global Technology & Innovation organization, the India T&I team plays a critical role in product development, localization, and innovation efforts that support the growth and competitiveness of the Polyurethanes business in India. The team is focused on expanding the product portfolio and delivering high-impact, customer-centric solutions aligned with evolving market demands.The job holder will be a hands-on application chemist who will provide product innovation and product tweaking on the current and future portfolio of products specifically for Automotive and Flexible foams.This position will be based in Mumbai, India.As an
Assistant Manager- Product & Application Development (AFF) you will:
Ensure full compliance with safety, health, and environmental guidelines according to site and company standards in all areas of responsibility, including customer locations, plants, laboratory facilities and testing equipment. Promote safety according to the above guidelines.He has a strong ability to understand and practice Automotive and Flexible foams products for different applications.Develop product know-how by connecting with the global and local product development and R&D teams. If needed, the candidate must tweak or modify or fine tune the available technology in the lab to offer customer specific solutions, troubleshooting and problem solving.Ensure our products run as per the expectation of the standards at customer locations through technical services team.Work closely with technical and R&D teams to drive new product developments (NPD)Write project reports in line with the report guidelines.Maintain an advanced awareness of competition portfolio and our portfolio local and global to enhance market success.Job holder must be an innovative and analytical thinker who is able to influence key individuals of all disciplines and levels inside and outside the organization to progress innovation.Job holder needs a high degree of initiative and problem-solving skills, together with a positive, independent, and self-managing attitude.Job holder must be able to communicate with different business teams and academics around the world which requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills are necessary to build internal and external networks.Job holder will be responsible for proposing and writing reports, not only for internal use, but for eventual publication and/or presentation at relevant conferences.Job holder must be a fluent communicator in English. Other languages are an asset.Job holder must be prepared to make travel locally and globally and work across international boundaries.What skills and experiences are we looking for?
Job holder must have an equivalent of a Masters (M.Sc., M. Tech., or MS) in Chemistry, Materials Science, Applied materials, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Polymer Engineering. A broad base of experience in Applied Chemistry, polymer chemistry, formulation, prototyping, and advanced characterization is necessary.Demonstrated expertise in formulation, prototyping and application developments.1-5 years of Product & Application Development, R&D or experience in a technology, techno-market oriented organizationApplication development experience in polyurethane based Automotive and flexible foams products.Proven track record of successfully developing products, applications.Strong skills in handling multiple projects.Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically when implementing products and solving customer or product related problems.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, with both technical and non-technical individuals, customers, cross-functional teams.Job holder must be a skilled and experienced user of a variety of IT tools and techniques to ensure efficient design, analytical and communication processes.Optionally, some understanding on top global technology Megatrends and drivers (Green/Clean/Sustainable products, E-Mobility, Autonomous vehicles, Digitalization, Robotics etc.)Highly innovative and willing to take initiative to tackle complex technical challenges.Able to apply good project management principles to own work and the work of global project teams.Good communication skills and fluency in English. Other languages are an asset.Good IT skills.Excellent Interpersonal Skills And Ability To Coach Others.
