Job Description

Assistant Manager – Budgeting & Costing supports financial planning by developing detailed budgets, analysing cost trends, and ensuring efficient cost control. They collaborate with operations, sales, and procurement to set realistic cost benchmarks, monitor variances, and prepare regular financial reports. This role plays a vital part in decision-making by forecasting future expenditures, recommending cost-saving strategies, and guiding senior management with actionable insights to optimise profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Develop monthly and annual budget plans aligned with strategic business objectives.
Analyse actual versus budget costs to identify variances and inefficiencies.
Prepare cost forecasts and projections to support management decision-making.
Coordinate with operations and procurement to control material and overhead costs.
Monitor inventory valuations and maintain accurate cost accounting records.
Provide detailed cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects or investments.
Present monthly financial summaries and variance reports to senior management.
Recommend and implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements

Skill & Experience

Strong financial modelling and forecasting using Excel or ERP systems.
Excellent analytical skills to interpret cost trends and budget variances.
Proficiency in cost accounting techniques and inventory valuation methods.
Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organisational and time-management abilities.
Knowledge of budgeting software and financial control processes.
