Designation Assistant Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Manager – Data Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience in AWS-based data engineering. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing scalable data solutions, mentoring team members, and driving performance improvements across data platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and future-ready data solutions

Responsibilities:

1. Solution Architecture & Design

Design and implement scalable, cost-effective, and high-performing data architectures on AWS.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define architecture, and deliver optimized solutions.
Integrate diverse data sources into unified platforms ensuring availability, security, and quality.

2. Data Modelling & Implementation

Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for structured and unstructured data.
Build and manage data pipelines using AWS-native services and open-source tools.
Ensure data governance, quality, and lineage across multiple systems.

3. Performance Tuning & Optimization

Optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, queries, and storage layers for high performance and scalability.
Implement monitoring, logging, and automated performance alerts for proactive issue resolution.
Work closely with DevOps and CloudOps teams for cost optimization and workload efficiency.

4. Leadership & Mentoring

Lead and mentor a team of junior data engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
Conduct code reviews, design walkthroughs, and technical training sessions.
Act as a trusted advisor for data-related strategies and solutions.

Skills:

4 to 8 years in the Data Engineering domain

4+ years of hands-on experience in AWS Data Engineering services, including: o Amazon S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions • Strong expertise in ETL/ELT pipeline design and implementation. • Proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or similar programming languages. • Experience with data modelling, schema design, and query optimization. • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud-native architectures. • Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).

• Exposure to data lakehouse architectures and tools like Databricks, Apache Iceberg, or Delta Lake. • Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka). • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, security best practices, and compliance standards. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams. • Strong leadership and mentoring experience, especially in managing 2-5 engineers.
