Assistant Manager - Custom Clearance

Role & responsibilities

Documentation Management: Prepare, verify, and manage all import/export documentation, including shipping bills, Bill of Entry, and permits, to ensure completeness and accuracy as per customs requirements.

Customs Compliance: Ensure all customs procedures and documentation strictly adhere to current local and international regulations; keep updated with rule changes to mitigate risks and avoid penalties.

Coordination: Liaise with customs, internal departments, port authorities, CFS authorities and other stakeholders for smooth clearance and cargo handling.

Shipment Monitoring: Oversee shipments from pre-arrival to post-release; provide real-time updates and track clearance milestones to clients and management.

Duty & Tax Calculation: Calculate and process applicable duties and taxes, ensuring timely payment in line with customs guidelines.

Regulatory Reporting: Maintain and submit accurate records, declarations, and statutory filings for audits and inspections.

Process Improvement: Propose and implement strategies for process efficiency, cost savings, and risk reduction within the customs clearance domain.

Compliance Training: Foster a compliance culture by training and updating team members on customs regulations and documentation protocols.

Compliance Duties

Full compliance with customs rules, regulations, policies, and strategies at all times.

Preparing and implementing results-oriented work plans and cost-saving strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.

Monitoring and reporting adherence to import/export restrictions, tariff systems, and documentation requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Graduate (preferably in logistics, business, or supply chain); customs certification (G-Card, H-Card, or equivalent) preferred.

5+ years experience in customs clearance or freight forwarding, with supervisory exposure.

Thorough knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and documentation standards.

Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; proficiency in MS Office and relevant logistics software.

Attention to detail and aptitude for compliance.
