Job Summary

The AGM – Purchase will be responsible for strategic procurement, vendor management, cost optimization, and ensuring timely availability of materials and services to support academic, administrative, and infrastructure requirements of Chandigarh University.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with university policies and budget objectives

• Manage end-to-end purchasing operations including sourcing, negotiation, ordering, and contract finalization

• Lead vendor selection, evaluation, and long-term supplier relationship management

• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, audit standards, and internal procurement policies

• Oversee procurement for academics, hostels, facilities, IT, laboratories, and construction projects

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with stores and finance teams

• Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, rate contracts, and alternate sourcing

• Handle high-value purchases, tenders, RFPs, and contract negotiations

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure timely delivery

• Prepare MIS reports, procurement analysis, and vendor performance reviews

• Lead and mentor the purchase team to improve efficiency and turnaround time

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, tendering, and contract management

• Experience in institutional / university / large campus procurement preferred, Industries.

• Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and cost-control skills

• Working knowledge of ERP / SAP / purchase management systems

• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and large-scale procurement operations

Preferred Industry Experience

• Universities / Educational Institutions

• Large campuses, infrastructure projects, or corporate procurement setups
