Assistant Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This role is key to the financial operations of the organization, providing critical data analysis and insight to support management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis of financial data, identifying trends, and reporting findings to management.
• General Ledger & Bookkeeping:
• Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of all entries.
• Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Compliance & Audit:
• Assist with the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns and tax payments.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and schedules.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Operational Accounting:
• Manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
• Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Budgeting & Forecasting (Optional/Depending on Level):
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
• Provide cost analysis and make recommendations for cost reduction and profitability improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Category Must-Have Qualifications/Skills Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience X+ years of experience in an accounting role. Technical Skills

Thorough knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.).

Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

Soft Skills

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (for explaining complex data to non-finance staff).

High degree of integrity and professional ethics.
