IBM i (AS/400) DeveloperLocation: On-site — India

About The Opportunity

We are hiring an IBM i (AS/400) Developer to join our IT services and enterprise application support team, focused on maintaining and modernizing mission-critical IBM i systems for large enterprises. This position supports core business applications, batch processing, and integrations that ensure day-to-day transactional reliability for clients across finance, manufacturing, and distribution.Role & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain RPGLE (RPG IV) programs and CL jobs to deliver stable, high-quality IBM i application functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents—perform root-cause analysis, apply fixes, and implement preventative improvements.
Develop and optimize DB2 for i SQL, embedded SQL routines, and data access logic to improve throughput and reliability.
Implement, schedule, and manage batch jobs and job queues; automate standard operational tasks and ensure SLAs are met.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and integration teams to deliver enhancements, perform code reviews, and ensure backward compatibility.
Contribute to modernization and integration efforts (APIs, MQ or middleware), and document technical designs and operational runbooks.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

4+ years working on IBM i / AS/400 platforms with hands-on RPGLE (RPG IV) and CL/CLLE development experience.
Solid experience with DB2 for i, writing efficient SQL and embedded SQL within RPG programs.
Proficiency with IBM i development tools (RDi, SEU, PDM) and debugging utilities; strong unit and integration testing practices.
Experience managing batch processes, job scheduling, and production support in a 24x7 enterprise environment.
Good problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work onsite with cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred

Exposure to legacy COBOL on IBM i, API-based integrations, IBM MQ, or middleware for inter-system connectivity.
Experience in legacy modernization initiatives, performance tuning, and CI/CD for IBM i environments.
