Senior Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Tamil Nadu Location: Tamil Nadu (Statewide) Industry: Agri Manufacturing industry / Industry Machinery Components Experience: 10-15 Years in Retail / Channel / Field Sales Languages: Tamil & Telugu (Mandatory), Hindi & English (Preferred) ________________________________________ Position Summary We are seeking a senior, highly experienced Area Sales Manager to strategically lead and expand our retail sales presence across Tamil Nadu. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong execution capabilities and exceptional relationship-building skills with retailers, mechanics, and trade influencers. The ASM will oversee monthly sales planning, secondary sales activation, stock monitoring, and real-time inventory updates to ensure robust market penetration. Fluency in Tamil and Telugu is essential for effective local communication, while Hindi and English skills will support reporting and cross-functional coordination. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities 1. Building and Maintaining Strong Retail Relationships Establish and nurture trusted, long-term relationships with retailers, agri outlets, hardware stores, and mechanics across Tamil Nadu. Understand customer needs, challenges, and purchasing behaviors to position our products as their preferred choice. Conduct regular in-person visits, actively listen to feedback, and offer timely support to strengthen loyalty and drive repeat business. 2. Monthly Sales Planning & Execution Develop comprehensive monthly sales plans targeting urban, semi-urban, and rural markets based on data-driven insights. Analyze sales trends, market intelligence, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and set realistic sales targets. Implement push strategies using focused promotions, trade offers, and loyalty programs to accelerate secondary sales and deepen market reach. 3. Daily Stock Monitoring & Real-time Updates Monitor stock levels daily at distributor and retail counters to avoid stock-outs or excess inventory. Provide real-time updates on inventory status and work with channel partners to ensure smooth stock rotation and product availability. 4. Territory Ownership & Market Coverage Take full ownership of the Tamil Nadu sales territory, covering all key retail clusters with strategic market coverage. Conduct 10-15 focused market visits daily for order booking, merchandising checks, scheme implementation, and competitor tracking. Represent the company with professionalism and commitment, establishing a visible and influential field presence. 5. Effective Communication & Language Proficiency Use Tamil and Telugu fluently for seamless communication with local stakeholders, ensuring clarity and trust. Utilize Hindi and English for internal reporting, documentation, and coordination with head office teams to bridge communication across functions. 6. Trade Scheme Implementation & Documentation Execute company trade schemes and promotions rigorously at the field level. Collect, verify, and process scheme claims from channel partners with accurate documentation to ensure timely settlements. Drive partner engagement in schemes to maximize sales activation and market impact. 7. 100% Cash & Carry Payment Policy A strict “Advance Payment before Service” policy will be implemented. Under no circumstances will credit or delayed payments be accepted. All channel partners must make payments upfront. Orders will be processed and deliveries made only after payment is received. This policy is critical to maintaining healthy cash flow and minimizing financial risk. Daily follow-up on payment collections will be enforced, along with accurate reconciliation of accounts. Regular reminders and personal visits will be conducted to ensure timely payments while maintaining strong business relationships. 8. Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis Continuously gather market insights on competitor pricing, promotions, and product launches. Provide actionable intelligence to senior management for timely strategic and tactical decisions to maintain competitive advantage. 9. Team Coordination & Leadership Collaborate closely with distributors, sub-dealers, and sales teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution of sales plans. Mentor and coach junior sales personnel, fostering best practices and driving consistent high performance across the team. Qualifications & Skills: Experience: 10-15 years in retail/channel/field sales, preferably in bearings, blades, oils, or agri implements. Languages: Fluent in Tamil & Telugu (mandatory); proficient in Hindi & English. Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build and sustain long-term business partnerships. Sales & Planning: Expertise in monthly sales planning, execution, and driving secondary sales growth. Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills in multiple languages. Analytical Skills: Competent in using sales data and market intelligence for informed decision-making. Field Orientation: Willingness to travel extensively and manage large, diverse territories independently.
