Scope


This role is for a leader who can drive both strategic vision and hands-on execution for the Air Freight product acrossIndia.


Strategy & Commercial Leadership


  • Develop and implement the comprehensive commercial strategy for the Air Freight product in India.
  • Ensure best-in-class service procurement

    through effective service provider management and development.
  • Deliver the best-in-class response to all RFQs and RFIs.
  • Maintain a fully compliant operation at all times.


Tactical Operations & Efficiency


  • Develop and execute operational plans to meet and exceed business objectives.
  • Drive operational efficiency to ensure continuous business performance improvement.
  • Support and guide the sales operations team.
  • Prepare, execute, monitor, and regularly update the business plan.
  • Cultivate cooperation and support from major origin points and gateways.
  • Build excellent relationships with carriers, vendors, and local authorities.
  • Monitor and improve departmental productivity indicators.
  • Instill a culture of consistent and complete compliance across the team.
  • Champion digitalization and creative solutions for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current on market and industry knowledge by regularly reviewing business/trade journals and attending industry events.
  • Ensure adherence to Data Integrity KPIs.


Customer Focus & Sales Engagement


  • Actively support sales and customer retention efforts.
  • Regularly meet with customers to understand their expectations and align solutions to their needs.
  • Complete 8-10 sales and/or retention calls per month.
  • Act as a key sponsor for at least 2 customers to drive cross-product business growth.
  • Proactively provide pricing alternatives, routing solutions, and technical assistance to customers.
  • Guide teams to ensure timely responses on proposals, quotations, and information with market-competitive pricing.
  • Prioritize and drive export business growth.


Financial Management


  • Conduct monthly reviews of P&L, productivity results, and goals.
  • Review and achieve the planned product net revenue and yield targets.
  • Support the Air Freight team in developing their tactical business plans.


People & Team Development


  • Provide training and guidance for competency enhancement.
  • Identify, develop, and coach the team at the country level.
  • Ensure all team members have clear job descriptions, expectations, and a structured development plan.
  • Offer guidance on industry and market developments to leaders, sales, and operations teams.
  • Deliver required training to sales and operations.
  • Participate in and review Air Freight operation appraisals.


Compliance & Culture


  • Promote compliance by diligently following all company policies and procedures.
  • Be a role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
  • Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies.
  • Support and implement all compliance initiatives, changes, and trainings.
  • Proactively promote the company’s culture attributes.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Air Product Expertise: Expert knowledge in all aspects of Air Freight products, with in-depth knowledge of the India market.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of deep expertise in the Air Freight product, covering both operational and commercial perspectives, and 3-5 years in a managerial position.
  • Market Exposure: Extensive Air Freight market exposure in India.
  • Communication: Fluent in English across all forms of communication.
  • Skills: Highly proficient in organizing, planning, prioritizing, assigning, and controlling shipments.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse cultures and people; must possess a charismatic and confident personality as well as an exceptional work ethic.
  • Preferred: Graduate from IATA / FIATA introductory course.
