Accountant Head

Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Accountant Head to lead and manage the accounting department of our jewelry showroom. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, a deep understanding of the jewelry business, and the ability to oversee financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and drive the financial health of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow).

• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial activities.

• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for improving profitability and efficiency.

2. Accounts Management:

• Supervise daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.

• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and bank reconciliations.

• Handle cash flow management, including petty cash and bank deposits.

3. Tax Compliance & Filing:

• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and timely filing of returns (GST, income tax, etc.).

• Prepare and maintain records for audits.

• Work closely with external auditors to ensure proper financial controls are in place.

4. Inventory & Costing:

• Oversee inventory management, ensuring accuracy in stock records and periodic stock counts.

• Calculate and track the cost of goods sold (COGS) and assist in setting product pricing.

• Maintain proper documentation for all purchases, sales, and returns.

5. Team Management:

• Supervise and mentor a team of junior accountants and ensure that all accounting tasks are completed efficiently.

• Provide guidance and training to the accounting team as needed.

6. Financial Forecasting & Budgeting:

• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring variances throughout the year.

• Track financial performance and recommend strategies to achieve business targets.

7. Internal Controls:

• Develop and implement strong internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.

• Conduct regular audits and checks to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance.

• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role (preferably in the jewelry or retail sector).

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office (Excel).

• Knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax laws, financial reporting, and inventory management.

• Leadership: Proven experience in team management and leadership.

• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
