Vendor Development Manager

Job Summary

• We are seeking a Vendor Development Manager to qualify, develop, and manage suppliers of specialty raw materials such as silicon, aluminum, and carbon-based chemicals used in energy and battery applications. The role focuses on supplier qualification, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, cost negotiation, and supply risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Qualify and audit suppliers for specialty chemicals and raw materials
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing capability for chemical synthesis, purification, and packaging
• Ensure compliance with REACH, RoHS, TSCA, GHS/CLP, and hazardous material handling regulations
• Review Certificates of Analysis (CoA) to verify purity, moisture content, and impurity limits
• Ensure consistency of raw material quality across batches
• Review packaging, storage, and transportation conditions to prevent moisture or contamination
• Develop alternate and diversified vendor sources to reduce supply risk
• Coordinate with R&D for material trials, validation, and scale-up support
• Evaluate logistics partners for safe and timely hazardous material transportation
• Perform supplier cost analysis and lead price negotiations
• Coordinate with Legal and Finance on NDAs, supplier agreements, and payments

Education

• B.Tech or M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, or EV / Battery Technology

Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in vendor development, supplier quality, or raw material procurement
• Hands-on experience working with specialty chemicals or advanced materials
• Technical & Functional Skills
• Proven experience conducting supplier audits and qualification
• Strong understanding of chemical material properties, including:
• Purity specifications
• Moisture content
• Particle size distribution
• BET surface area
• Trace impurity levels
• Working knowledge of REACH, RoHS, TSCA, and hazardous material regulations
• Experience reviewing CoA, MSDS, and supplier quality documentation
• Strong cost analysis and price negotiation skills
• Ability to evaluate supplier quotes against market benchmarks
