How will you make an impact in this role

American Express Enterprise Cloud builds and delivers a comprehensive platform that enables business critical applications to have Faster Time-to-Market for American Express. Enterprise Cloud offers dynamic rapid code-to-development models and services such as Platform-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and DB-as-a-Service for our internal application developers to use within a hybrid private/public cloud environment. Enterprise Cloud enables our application developers to write modern scalable cloud native applications.
American Express is embarking on an exciting Hybrid Cloud transformation journey and is in search of an innovative and critical thinking engineers to build and enhance our Hybrid Cloud Platform.
This position will report into the Global Infrastructure Customer Experience Engineering team.
In this UI/UX Developer role, you will be responsible for building and implementing the User Interfaces for our Global Infrastructure Portal using the latest modern user experience methods. A Good understanding of building React applications in a scalable cloud native architecture on a private cloud Kubernetes PaaS environment is required.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • This is a UI/UX Developer role with an emphasis on building and implementing enhancements to our Global Infrastructure Portal including enabling the User Interface for Private and Public Cloud customer journeys. 
  • The Candidate should have good experience on building scalable cloud native applications on Kubernetes based PaaS.
  • Able to diagnose and solve software and UX problems without ambiguity.
  • Have a core understanding of API components like Circuit Breakers, Service discovery patterns, horizontally scalable services and how these are used and managed within User Interfaces.
  • Used distributed log analytics like Splunk to debug UI Micro-service components.
  • Able to review the source code of front-end libraries to debug, fix or patch
  • A good understanding of view layouts and rendering technologies (e.g., responsiveness, progressive enhancement, browser/device support). 
  • Understanding of web services technologies such as HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST
  • Working with product managers to deliver features for ongoing sprints and managing a list of technical requirements based on known defects and issues.
  • Must have experience with security technology and concepts (Authentication, Authorization, Single sign-on, Cryptography, etc.)
  • Understands how to be efficient with resource usage (e.g., application impact on memory and CPU, caches appropriately, respectful of customer's devices, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience on build systems like Maven and CI/CD toolchain.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Cloud Native application design and development experience
  • 2-4 years of experience with Front-end technologies React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Nodejs, Webpack, etc. 
  • Ability to work with PaaS based Cloud development Platforms, and Cloud technologies and tools for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience working within an Agile managed team for rapid and continuous development of work products
  • Good Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
