Job Description

Key Responsibilities1. Cost Estimation & Quotation Study customer RFQs, drawings, models, and BOM for BIW fixtures, jigs, automation parts, and machining jobs. Prepare detailed cost sheets covering material, machining hours, welding, assembly, surface treatment, CMM inspection, purchased items, and outsourcing. Estimate cycle time for machining operations (milling, VMC, grinding, drilling, boring, wire cut). Cost NAAMS standard parts, shims, and automation components as per new in-house capability. Coordinate with suppliers to obtain accurate quotes for raw material, surface treatments, and bought-out items. 2. Technical EvaluationInterpret GD&T, machining tolerances, welding symbols, and hardening/surface treatment requirements. Verify feasibility of machining sequences as Fix Yantra performs all machining before hardening. Assess risks in manufacturing, complex operations, special tools, and fixtures required for jobs. 3. Internal CoordinationWork closely with Design & Project Engineering Team to understand fixture concepts and manufacturing feasibility. Coordinate with Production, QC (including CMM/PolyWorks), and Procurement for accurate cost inputs. Update management on pricing trends, cost deviations, and improvement areas. 4. Documentation & ReportingPrepare structured cost breakdowns for customer submission. Maintain a database of standard machining rates, process times, and supplier prices. Track actual vs. estimated costs and suggest corrective measures. Support management in pricing strategy and rebate agreements (e.g., Comau 2% annual rebate). Required SkillsStrong understanding of machining processes: VMC, milling, grinding, drilling, reaming, boring, and wire cut. Ability to read 2D drawings and 3D models (STEP preferred). Knowledge of BIW fixture elements, jig fixture design concepts, toggle clamps, and NAAMS parts. Familiarity with material grades, heat treatment (including surface hardness 75–80 HRC), and surface coatings. Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for cost sheets. Basic CAD knowledge (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar). Good communication and negotiation skills. QualificationsDiploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering. 2–5 years of experience in costing/estimation in a precision machining or fixture manufacturing industry (preferred). Experience with supplier coordination and machining/fabrication costing. Key AttributesDetail-oriented and analytical mindset. Ability to work under tight quotation deadlines. Proactive in optimizing costs without compromising quality.
