Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Manage procurement of

    raw materials, consumables, plant spares, and capital items

    .
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard

    new vendors and alternate suppliers

    to support cost and quality objectives.
  • Carry out negotiations for pricing, contracts, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual rate agreements.
  • Ensure procurement planning based on

    production targets, stock levels, and consumption trends

    .

2. Technical & Commercial Evaluation

  • Review technical specifications for

    Coke, Electrodes, Ferro Alloys

    , and other materials.
  • Coordinate with Production & QA teams for quality verification, sampling, testing, and technical approval.
  • Evaluate technical bids and prepare

    techno-commercial statement

    for management decision-making.

3. Vendor Management & Cost Control

  • Maintain strong vendor relationships for timely supply and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct

    market intelligence

    , price trend analysis, and cost optimization exercises.
  • Monitor vendor performance on quality, delivery, reliability, and service support.
  • Implement

    cost-saving initiatives

    , alternate material sourcing, and contract-based procurement.

4. Transportation, Logistics & Dispatch Coordination

  • Plan and oversee

    inbound and outbound transportation

    for raw materials, finished goods, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with

    transporters, logistics partners, and clearing agents

    for timely pickup and delivery.
  • Negotiate freight rates, route planning, dispatch schedules, and yearly transportation contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with

    weighbridge standards, gate entry protocols, and documentation

    .
  • Monitor vehicle movement, transit time, unloading timelines, and material safety during transportation.
  • Resolve logistics-related issues such as delays, damages, shortages, or billing disputes.
  • Manage documentation for

    e-way bills, invoices, LR/GR, dispatch notes

    , and other statutory requirements.

5. Coordination with Internal Departments

  • Work closely with

    Production, QC, Stores, Finance, Logistics, and Admin

    for smooth operations.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Address supply, quality, delivery, and billing issues proactively with concerned teams.

6. Inventory Management & MIS

  • Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock for all critical materials.
  • Coordinate with stores for bin card updates, stock reconciliations, and material movement tracking.
  • Prepare and submit

    MIS reports

    on procurement status, price trends, consumption, logistics costs, and vendor analysis.

7. Commercial Operations & Compliance

  • Prepare

    comparative statements, commercial justifications, and PO documentation

    .
  • Ensure compliance with GST, excise, statutory norms, and company procurement policies.
  • Handle contract management, tender documentation, and vendor onboarding formalities.
  • Support finance in invoice verification, GRN matching, and payment processing coordination.

8. Strategic & Business Support

  • Assist in budgeting for raw materials, logistics, and annual procurement planning.
  • Support management in

    capex procurement

    , cost reduction projects, and new plant initiatives.
  • Provide data-driven inputs for strategic decisions, vendor allocation, and procurement forecasting.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Background

  • Bachelors degree in

    Engineering

    ,

    Commerce

    ,

    Business Administration

    , or

    Materials Management

    (B.Tech / B.Com / BBA / BBM).
  • Masters degree preferred:

    MBA (Operations / Supply Chain / Finance)

    or

    PG Diploma in Materials Management

    .
  • Certifications in

    procurement, logistics, supply chain, or ERP systems

    will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of

    ferro alloy plant operations, raw materials, process flow, and quality parameters

    .
  • Ability to interpret

    technical specifications, test certificates, and material quality standards

    .
  • Strong MS Excel skills for

    data analysis, costing, and comparison statements

    .

Commercial & Analytical Skills

  • Strong negotiation ability for

    pricing, freight, contracts, and payment terms

    .
  • Experience preparing

    techno-commercial bids, comparison sheets, MIS reports, and cost analysis

    .
  • Knowledge of

    GST, taxation norms, commercial documentation, and statutory compliance

    .

Logistics & Transportation Skills

  • Experience managing

    transporters, freight negotiation, dispatch planning, route optimization, and transit monitoring

    .
  • Familiarity with e-way bills, LR/GR, dispatch documentation, and supply chain workflows.
