Technical Writer

Main tasks:

• Scheduling, creating, publishing and maintenance for the following technical documentations:

1. Instruction Manuals (IM) for compressors and compressor components
2. Customer Information (CI) for compressor components
3. Instructions for field engineers (MI) for compressor components
4. Documentations of accessories from external suppliers
5. Update of Instruction Manuals on request of service department and/or customer

• Coordination of translation from English original documentation with internal or external translators – linguistic verification if possible
• Processing basic information and active maintenance to update the Manuals
• Independent scheduling of the documentation assignments including proofreading and translations
• Weekly status reports at the attention of the Manager Documentation
• Report to the Manager Documentation if deadlines shift
• Report to the Manager Documentation of job conclusion 
• Assistance and aid creating technical illustrations and graphics required for the instruction manuals, spare part catalogues, etc.

Education / Experience:

• B.E./Diploma mechanical with min. 3-5 years of experience
• Technical writing tool experience such as Adobe FrameMaker (structured) or any similar XML authoring tools
• Know-how of tools like Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop or other illustration tools
• Knowledge of TIM-Info manager or equivalent Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Conversant in interviewing SME’s, checklist adherence and strong basics of technical writing
• Good knowledge of Across or equivalent Translation Memory System 

Language Skills:

• Business fluency in English (oral and written)
• Language skill in German would be added advantage 

Special Skills:

• Knowledge of revision control, release processes in Content Management System (CMS).
• Knowledge of DITA (module/topic based authoring)

• Comprehensibility and technical correctness of the documentations
• Meets quality expectations
• Compliance with the delivery deadlines and pre-calculated costs (budgeted hours)
