Job Title: System Administrator (with IT Development Support)

Department: IT Infrastructure & Development Support

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience Required: 3–8 years (experience in system administration with development/DevOps exposure)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a versatile and experienced System Administrator with a strong foundation in IT infrastructure management, along with hands-on experience in supporting software development environments. This role combines traditional SysAdmin responsibilities (servers, networking, security, backups) with support for development workflows (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, etc.).

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing servers, networks, cloud systems, DevOps pipelines, and ensuring smooth day-to-day IT operations for the development and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Server & Infrastructure Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux).
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, email servers, and domain services.
  • Monitor server performance, ensure uptime, and perform routine maintenance.

2. Networking & Security

  • Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, routers, switches, and VPN access.
  • Ensure network security via firewalls, patch management, antivirus updates, and access controls.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, and implement corrective actions.

3. IT Development Support / DevOps Tasks

  • Set up and maintain development, staging, and production environments.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
  • Assist developers in setting up local and remote dev environments.
  • Deploy and manage web applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

4. Cloud & Virtualization

  • Deploy and manage cloud instances (EC2, DigitalOcean Droplets, Azure VMs).
  • Implement cloud services like S3, CloudFront, Load Balancers, Auto-Scaling Groups.
  • Manage virtual machines and containers using Docker, VMware, or Hyper-V.

5. Backup, Recovery & Disaster Management

  • Implement automated backup solutions and ensure data recovery mechanisms.
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery drills.
  • Maintain documentation of backup schedules and recovery procedures.

6. Software & License Management

  • Install, update, and manage business-critical software across departments.
  • Maintain software licensing compliance and perform regular audits.

7. Technical Support

  • Provide Level 1/2/3 support for end-users including developers and other staff.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Maintain an IT asset inventory and manage procurement of new hardware/software.

8. Documentation & Compliance

  • Create and update SOPs, user manuals, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and external standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in system/network administration, with exposure to development or DevOps.
  • Relevant certifications preferred:
  • Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE)
  • Linux+ / RHCSA / RHCE
  • AWS Certified SysOps Admin / Azure Administrator
  • CompTIA Network+ / Security+

Technical Skills:

Systems & Servers:

  • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian)
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, File Servers, Print Servers

Networking:

  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, Firewalls (Fortinet, pfSense, Cisco)
  • Wi-Fi management and network segmentation

DevOps & Cloud:

  • CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Version control: Git, GitHub, GitLab
  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean
  • Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Python (basic level)

Tools:

  • Docker, Kubernetes (optional), VMware, VirtualBox
  • Monitoring tools: Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Backup software: Veeam, Acronis, Rsync, Duplicati

Soft Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Proactive mindset with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Team player who can also work independently under minimal supervision

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Server/network uptime percentage
  • Average issue resolution time (ticket SLAs)
  • Number of critical incidents handled successfully
  • Backup success rate and recovery speed
  • Deployment success rate and error reduction
  • User satisfaction rating from internal teams

Work Environment:

  • May require occasional weekend or after-hours work for maintenance or deployments.
  • Physical presence may be required at the data center or client site (if applicable).
  • Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, development-driven environment.
