System & Infrastructure Management:
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of mission-critical systems, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Administer and optimize Windows, Linux/Unix servers, and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Ensure high availability and performance of servers, network systems, and enterprise applications.
- Manage storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based solutions, ensuring data redundancy and integrity.
- Oversee hardware upgrades, perform preventive maintenance, and resolve infrastructure-related issues to minimize downtime.
Network And Security Management
- Oversee the setup and management of network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Implement advanced security measures, including intrusion detection, firewalls, encryption, and multi-factor authentication.
- Monitor systems for security vulnerabilities, perform regular security audits, and mitigate any risks.
Cloud Infrastructure And Virtualization
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and ensure seamless integration with on-premises systems.
- Administer and optimize virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure scalability, performance, and availability.
Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Design, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure minimal downtime during system failures or outages.
- Oversee regular backup processes, recovery testing, and updates to disaster recovery plans.
Automation & Scripting
- Automate routine system administration tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Develop and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to streamline deployment and configuration management.
Incident Management & Troubleshooting
- Respond to escalated system issues and outages, coordinating with other teams to resolve technical problems quickly and effectively.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and improve processes to prevent recurrence.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, policies, and incident reports.
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, security status, and resource usage for senior management.
Requirements
- Proven success in an IT role.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science.
- Knowledge of Unix systems administration.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator.
- Expertise in managing Windows and Linux/Unix-based servers and systems.
- Extensive experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Advanced knowledge of networking, firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices.
- Strong experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Hands-on experience with IT monitoring tools and performance management.
- Strong understanding of storage solutions (SAN, NAS, and cloud storage) and database systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure during incidents.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
