Sustainability & Wastewater Engineer
will manage and optimize wastewater treatment operations, hazardous waste handling, and utility systems in compliance with environmental regulations, ensuring sustainable practices and uninterrupted support for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Core Responsibilities
Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Management
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of the ETP to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Monitor wastewater treatment processes and continuously optimize performance.
- Ensure efficient functioning of filtration, aeration, and chemical treatment systems.
- Conduct regular testing and analysis of treated effluent to meet quality standards.
- Possess working knowledge of MEE (Multiple Effect Evaporator), ATFD (Agitated Thin Film Dryer), and RO (Reverse Osmosis) systems.
- Maintain and update ETP, MEE, and ATFD log sheets accurately.
- Keep records of area cleaning activities.
- Acquire knowledge of internal and external drainage systems as required.
Solid & Hazardous Waste Management
Implement and oversee hazardous waste disposal procedures in accordance with GPCB (Gujarat Pollution Control Board) guidelines. Ensure proper segregation, storage, and category-wise transportation of hazardous waste. Maintain detailed records of waste generation, treatment, and disposal. Coordinate with authorized waste disposal vendors and regulatory bodies.
Utility Handling
- Manage utilities including distillation plants, chillers, and cooling tower systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to support pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot utility equipment.
- Promote energy efficiency and support sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–7 years of hands-on experience in ETP operations, hazardous waste management, and utility handling within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in wastewater treatment technologies, hazardous waste disposal practices, and utility system operations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental compliance standards, especially GPCB regulations.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure strict adherence to environmental laws and safety regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for ETP operations, hazardous waste management, and utility systems.
- Prepare reports and documentation for audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
Safety & Training
- Conduct training programs for staff on waste management and utility operations.
- Implement safety protocols to mitigate environmental risks.
- Collaborate with the EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) team to enhance workplace safety standards.
Desirable Requirements
