  • Overseeing the preparation and application of coating materials, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and conducting inspections throughout the process
  • Supervise and manage all spray-painting activities on

    glass and wooden surfaces

    , ensuring proper surface preparation, primer, topcoat, and curing as per company standards.
  • Ensure accurate

    paint mixing

    using standard ratios for various types of paints (PU, NC, water-based, etc.), including hardeners and thinners, and maintain proper labeling and usage records.
  • Train and guide painters and helpers in correct spraying techniques, gun settings, overlap methods, and booth discipline for achieving uniform finish and minimizing rework.
  • Monitor quality of painted surfaces for defects such as sagging, pinholes, orange peel, poor adhesion, and ensure rework if any non-conformity is found.
  • Maintain daily paint material usage logs and update stock consumption in coordination with store and purchase departments.
  • Coordinate with QC and planning teams to ensure the painting schedule aligns with production and dispatch timelines.
  • Conduct tool and equipment checks—spray guns, hoses, air compressors, and mixing tools—and ensure routine maintenance for optimal performance.
  • Enforce strict safety procedures for handling flammable and hazardous chemicals, ensuring availability and usage of PPE like masks, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and waste disposal of leftover paint, thinner, and contaminated materials as per environmental safety standards.
  • Conduct trial samples for new color batches and maintain

    accuracy as per client requirement or approved master sample.
  • Supervise drying and curing methods depending on material type and finish requirement, and ensure minimum handling damage.
  • Handle daily manpower allocation, attendance, discipline, and performance monitoring of the paint section team.
  • Report paint section productivity, defects, consumption, and issues to the Production Manager through daily and weekly reports.
  • Ensure spray booth area is clean, ventilated, and compliant with all statutory and internal audit norms.
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts by suggesting process improvements to reduce paint wastage, rework, and cycle time.
  • Supervise daily lacquering operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Conduct regular quality checks throughout the lacquering process to maintain product standards and minimize re-work.
  • Manage lacquering materials, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely availability.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate lacquering staff, fostering a productive and positive work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and staff performance.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the lacquering process.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production planning and quality assurance, to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of products.
  • Strong knowledge of lacquering processes, materials, and equipment.
  • 26. Monitoring and submitting day wise, weekly and monthly lacquering/coating report and taking stock count of WIP, FG, BIN and Scrap and submit it to reporting managers on time to time basis.

    27. Conducts internal audits for the stock updates of WIP, FG, SFG and BIN and send reports to the reporting manager

    28. Handle internal escalations within departments to educate and streamline the process.

    29. Should be flexible to works in rotation shifts and visits neighbouring branches once in 3 months and/or whenever troubleshooting is required as per the manager instruction.

    30. Adhering to the KRA & KPI and accepting the time to time basis upgrades and tasks as assigned by the reporting managers.

    1. Coating Methods and Equipment:

    • Spraying:

    Understanding different types of spray guns (airless, electrostatic), their settings, and how to achieve consistent and even coverage is essential. Supervisors should also know how to maintain spray equipment and troubleshoot common issues like clogging or uneven spray patterns.

    • Dipping:

    Knowledge of dip coating tanks, their size, and how to control immersion time and withdrawal speed to ensure uniform coating thickness is important.

    • Flow Coating:

    Supervisors should understand the flow coating process, including how to manage coating flow, prevent sags and runs, and ensure proper drainage.

    • Other Methods:

    Depending on the specific application, knowledge of other coating methods like roller coating, curtain coating, or powder coating might also be necessary.

    2. Coating Machines and Their Components:

    • Automatic Lacquer Coating Machines:

    Understanding the operation and maintenance of automated systems for applying lacquer, including conveyor systems, spray booths, and drying tunnels.

    • Slitting and Rewinding Machines:

    For flexible packaging applications, knowledge of slitting and rewinding machines used to prepare substrates for coating is important.

    • Other Equipment:

    Supervisors should also be familiar with related equipment like ovens for drying, filtration systems for lacquer purification, and pumps for transferring lacquer.

    3. Lacquer Properties and Substrates:

    • Lacquer Types:

    Understanding the characteristics of different lacquer types (e.g., nitrocellulose, acrylic, polyurethane) and their suitability for various substrates and applications is crucial.

    • Substrate Compatibility:

    Knowledge of how different substrates (wood, metal, plastic, paper) interact with lacquer and how to prepare them for coating is important.

    • Troubleshooting:

    The ability to diagnose and address issues related to lacquer application, such as drying problems, adhesion issues, or surface defects, is a key skill.

    4. Maintenance and Safety:

    • Preventive Maintenance:

    Supervisors should understand the importance of regular maintenance of all coating equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.

    • Safety Procedures:

    Knowledge of safety procedures related to handling lacquer, operating machinery, and working in a coating environment is critical.
