Sr. Manager / AGM – Engineering (Structure Engineering & MMS Designer)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer and MMS (Module Mounting Structure) Designer to join our engineering team. You will play a critical role in the design and engineering of robust, cost-effective, and safe mounting structures for large-scale, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power plants. Your expertise will ensure our projects meet structural integrity, performance, and budgetary goals while adhering to all relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering:

• Design and optimize module mounting structures (fixed-tilt, seasonal tilt, and single-axis tracker systems) for utility-scale solar farms that also include docking, reversing & bridges for Robotic applications.
• Design and optimize Pooling Substation equipment structures, MV, HV & EHV Transmission Line Tower and Gantree Structures.
• Perform structural analysis and calculations for foundations (pile, ground screw, concrete), posts, purlins, rails, and tracking components under various loads (wind, snow, seismic, dead, live).
• Develop and review detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, GA (General Arrangement) drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and installation manuals.
• Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, STAAD.Pro, PVSyst for shading analysis, or specialized MMS design tools) for modelling and analysis.
• Design considering geotechnical reports, topography, and site-specific conditions (e.g., flood zones, high wind regions).

1. Technical Documentation & Compliance:

• Ensure all designs comply with international and local codes and standards (e.g., ASCE 7, IBC, Eurocodes, IS Codes, ASTM, AISC).
• Prepare and submit design packages for internal review and external civil/structural (C&S) consultant approval.
• Collaborate with external geotechnical and civil engineers to integrate foundation design.
• Support the preparation of technical specifications for supplier RFQs and evaluate vendor proposals.

1. Project & Operational Asset Support & Cost Optimization:

• Work closely with Asset Manager, Project Managers, Civil Engineers, and Electrical Engineers to ensure integrated project design.
• Conduct value engineering to optimize material usage (steel / aluminum) and reduce Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).
• Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and construction phases, resolving manufacturing & site queries.

1. Vendor & Quality Coordination:

• Liaise with MMS / Structure suppliers, Robotic OEM and fabricators to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and quality control.
• Review and approve vendor shop drawings and design calculations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of direct experience in designing module mounting structures for ground-mounted solar PV plants, Transmission line & Substation Structures.
• Proven proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA-3D, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of steel and aluminium structure design, connection design, and foundation principles.
• In-depth knowledge of international structural design codes relevant to solar structures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with Single-axis solar tracker system design.
• Familiarity with PV layout software (e.g., PVCase, AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVSyst).
• Knowledge of corrosion protection methods for steel structures.
• Experience working with domestic & global engineering teams and suppliers.
