About The Role We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join the India office of DESRI, i.e., DESRI India Private Limited, based in Hyderabad, India. The candidate will be a part of Design and Engineering team and will regularly interact with the U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties. The candidate will be a part of a small, inclusive, highly skilled team responsible for supporting DESRI’s portfolio of wind, solar, and storage projects within a dynamic environment that values collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and attention to detail. What You'll Do In this role, you will be working on detailed PV plant designing of utility scale projects, focusing on creating layouts and detailed designs. You will be required to work on fixed tilt and tracker designs for Utility Scale Design collating various design datasets in the form of Geotech, Civil, topographic, and environmental surveys of the site. You will be expected to provide relevant suggestions and inputs to optimize capacity by comparing and studying various layouts and design inputs. You will also be expected to simulate multiple iterations using Civil 3D or similar tools utilizing various combinations of plant components and provide an analysis of the total capacity obtained for the site. Additionally, you will analyze the impact of varied environmental parameters, including topography, shading, and constraints, on the overall capacity of the site. Qualifications The ideal candidate should hold – A Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering or a Master of Technology (M. Position Summary Civil Engineer – Officer will be responsible for assessing and analysing potential sites for solar installations. Focused on site planning, demolition, grading and stormwater management with stable and compliant support structures for solar panels with related foundations, and ensuring that all plans meet local building codes and regulations. He/ She will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to create detailed engineering plans, manage the permitting process, and ensure the successful integration of solar systems into existing infrastructure. Their expertise ensures that solar projects are both safe and efficient. Core Responsibilities Solar Project Site Assessment: Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate the suitability of locations for solar installations. Consider factors such as topography, geotechnical conditions, drainage, and environmental impact. Civil Design and Permitting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and design infrastructure components such as access roads, fencing, laydowns and drainage systems to support solar projects. Conduct preliminary site evaluations including desktop studies, topography, and wetlands. Provide input on site grading, drainage, and layout optimization to ensure efficient use of space and resources. Support the civil design of solar projects, including site layout, demolition, grading and stormwater management calculations, foundation design, and structural considerations. Provide a range of drawing production work using AutoCAD and Civil3D for site layouts, demolition, grading, stormwater management (SWPPP), road profiles and utility plans. Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring compliance with AHJ, local, state, and federal regulations. Pavement design of the roadways with alignment, profile, assembly, corridors and intersections. Design gravity and pressure networks, including stormwater, sewer systems, adhering to industry regulations. Creating civil site plans identifying relevant approvals necessary. Structural Design: Design pile foundations, module mounting steel structures, main control room foundation. Foundation design for IDT, LT & HT panels, ICR and other components in solar plant. Preparation of the detailed bill of quantities for structures basedon drawings. Design and oversee the construction of foundations for solar panels, tracker piles, inverter and substation related infrastructure, ensuring stability and durability in various soil and climate conditions. Knowledge of designing support structures for solar panels. Understanding of load calculations, wind, snow, and seismic analysis. Quality Assurance and Safety: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including ASCE 7, IBC, ACI, AISC, and local building codes. Conduct inspections and site visits as required to verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards. Technical Support and Problem Solving: Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any civil and structural challenges or issues that arise. Innovate and implement solutions to optimize the design and construction process, reducing costs and improving efficiency. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of project plans, engineering calculations, construction progress, and as-built documentation. Additional Responsibilities: Gaining knowledgeof PV system components such as modules,racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
