Overview:

We are seeking a senior-level IT Engineer/Architect with deep hands-on expertise in disaster recovery (DR), backup technologies, and resiliency engineering. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing robust DR solutions across infrastructure pillars, ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of critical data and systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical fluency in backup platforms, replication technologies, and networking fundamentals, and will be capable of translating business continuity requirements into scalable, validated architectures.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

• Architect and implement end-to-end disaster recovery and resiliency solutions across infrastructure, applications, and data platforms.
• Design reference architecture and technical workflows for backup, replication, and recovery aligned with RTO/RPO targets.
• Evaluate and select DR technologies and platforms based on performance, scalability, and integration capabilities.
• Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Ensure DR plans align with infrastructure and network configurations.

Backup Strategy & Recovery Engineering

• Design and implement comprehensive backup and restoration strategies for all systems, data, and applications.
• Develop and maintain backup strategies using snapshot, replication, and restore mechanisms across hybrid environments.
• Ensure regular backups are scheduled, performed, and validated for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain backup retention policies in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Validate recovery procedures through hands-on testing and simulation of DR scenarios.
• Ensure backup platforms meet compliance, retention, and audit-readiness standards.

Networking & Infrastructure Integration

• Apply deep understanding of OSI model, routing, DNS, and latency considerations to influence DR design patterns.
• Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to ensure connectivity and failover readiness across environments.

DR Exercises, Audits & Validation

• Lead and coordinate regular disaster recovery and backup exercises, including failover and restoration procedures.
• Document outcomes, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement in resiliency posture.
• Maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations through regular audits and reporting.
• Ensure DR and backup solutions are always audit-ready.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify critical systems and design tailored recovery strategies.
• Engage with vendors, external consultants, and third-party service providers to enhance disaster recovery capabilities.
• Communicate with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on recovery strategies.
• Provide technical mentorship and training to IT teams and staff on DR architecture and protocols.

Incident Response & Troubleshooting

• Act as the primary IT point of contact during disaster recovery and backup-related incidents.
• Serve as the technical lead during DR events, coordinating recovery efforts and root cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, replication issues, and infrastructure outages with precision and urgency.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed architecture diagrams, recovery workflows, and validation reports.
• Create comprehensive documentation of DR and backup plans, exercise results, and recovery efforts.
• Track and report on RTO/RPO metrics, system readiness, and architectural improvements
