Solar Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Solar Design Engineer to plan, design, and optimize solar PV systems for residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in CAD tools, PV system design software, and a solid understanding of regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Assessment:

• Conduct site visits or analyze provided data for structural, electrical, and environmental feasibility.
• Evaluate roof conditions, solar access, and interconnection points.

System Design:

• Develop complete solar PV system layouts, electrical schematics, and SLDs.
• Use tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or SketchUp.

Component Selection:

• Identify suitable PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, batteries (if applicable), and BOS.

Performance Analysis:

• Run shading analysis, yield simulation, and basic ROI calculations.
• Optimize orientation, tilt, and stringing for maximum efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure all designs follow relevant IEC, IS, NEC, and local utility norms.
• Coordinate for net metering and grid synchronization documents.

Project Collaboration:

• Work closely with project managers, sales, procurement, and site engineers.
• Support during the installation and commissioning phase.

Documentation:

• Prepare and maintain BOQs, technical specs, as-built drawings, and client handover documents.

Required Skills:

• Software: AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, MS Excel, SketchUp
• Knowledge Areas: Solar PV design, electrical systems, net metering, shading analysis
• Regulatory Awareness: MNRE guidelines, DISCOM procedures, safety codes
• Soft Skills: Problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, documentation

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus):

• Certification in Solar Design (NISE, Skill India, or international)
• Experience with rooftop and ground-mount systems
• Experience in proposal and costing support
