An Infrastructure Quantity Surveyor's job description focuses on managing the cost and commercial aspects of infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on time. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation and Management: Estimating project costs, preparing bills of quantities, and managing budgets throughout the project lifecycle. Tender Preparation and Evaluation: Preparing tender documents, evaluating bids from contractors, and negotiating contracts. Contract Administration: Managing contract variations, claims, and payments, ensuring adherence to contractual terms. Project Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking project progress, monitoring costs, and preparing regular reports for stakeholders. Value Engineering and Cost Optimization: Identifying opportunities to improve project value and reduce costs through cost-effective solutions. Risk Management: Assessing and managing commercial risks associated with projects. Client Liaison: Communicating with clients to understand their needs and providing cost-related advice. Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant regulations and standards. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related field. Experience: Relevant experience in the construction industry, particularly in infrastructure projects. Technical Skills: Expertise in cost estimation, contract management, and project accounting. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve cost-related issues. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Professional Certification: RICS chartership is highly desirable. Specific Tasks in Infrastructure Projects: Highways and Roads: Preparing BOQs for road construction, estimating costs for materials, labor, and equipment, and managing project costs.
