Reporting to the Site Manager, Health & Safety, Radiation, and Environment (HSRE), the Health & Safety Coordinator will play a fundamental role in supporting all workers on site, including contractors on all matters relating to health and safety. The H&S Coordinator is a collaborative role that requires strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective and safe behaviours and functioning on the Rook I Project Site.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development and continuous improvement of health and safety programs and processes for the Project.
- Provide expertise and guidance to employees and contractors in the implementation of the health and safety programs, procedures and processes.
- Support employee and contractor engagement and hazard communication activities related to health and safety through occupational health committees and other means as required.
- Provide subject matter expert support and input as required to ensure Project and site processes are fit-for-purpose and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in and contribute to risk assessments as related to conventional health and safety hazards and controls.
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Participate in the Integrated Management System audit activities as required.
- Assist in the incident management process, participate in incident investigations and corrective action activities as assigned.
- Analyze incident data to identify trends and prepare required health and safety reports as required.
- Drive continual improvement efforts enhancing health and safety, emergency preparedness and response, fire protection and contractor management programs.
- Participate in emergency response and mine rescue drills and training exercises.
- Promote a strong safety culture encouraging active participation with all employees and contractors.
- Recognize and reward safe behaviors and achievements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree or diploma in health and safety management, risk management, engineering, or a related field. Significant experience in mining or heavy industry may be accepted in place of educational requirements.
- Minimum five years experience in heavy industry or mining, with uranium mining and milling experience considered an asset.
- Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories, and practices related to effective control of health and safety related risks.
- Have an in-depth working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Saskatchewan Mining Regulations.
- Proficiency in incident investigation, and emergency response planning and execution.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with database management, and the ability to learn new software.
