Primary Objective

To lead and manage all maintenance operations within the port and shipyard, ensuring compliance with labor laws, health, safety, environmental, and security standards. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and efficient production maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Management

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
• Execute directives from the Managing Director effectively.
• Customize maintenance policies to suit local operational needs.
• Develop and implement project plans for facility start-up and expansion.
• Prepare and manage annual maintenance budgets (capital and operational).
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and systems.

Maintenance & Asset Management

• Develop and enforce maintenance standards in line with internal, external, and OEM requirements.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Maintain equipment performance through Total Quality Management (TQM) practices.
• Optimize inventory costs using “just-in-time” strategies for spare parts.
• Monitor and process warranty claims for equipment.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Investigate incidents and enforce safety protocols.
• Promote awareness and implementation of environmental management systems.
• Manage contractor work and tender evaluations.

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and electricians.
• Ensure adequate staffing and competency through training and development.
• Control labor costs through efficient resource management.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate maintenance records in compliance with ISO, MPCB, and other statutory bodies.
• Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Technical Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

• Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of:
• Cranes (25 Ton ELL, 10 Ton Tower, EOT)
• Air compressors, CNC plasma/gas cutting machines
• Generators, welding machines (ARC, MIG), hydraulic presses
• Lathe, milling, drilling, boring, and cutting machines
• RO plants, STP, ETP, fire pumps, and hydrants
• Electrical panels, portable blowers, and hand tools
• Civil infrastructure including jetty, buildings, and pipelines

Marine Services

• Provide utilities (ventilation, lighting, shore/DG supply) to docked vessels.
• Manage waste disposal (scrap, garbage, oil drums, paint cans) in coordination with vendors.

Operations Coordination

• Ensure smooth functioning of:
• Crane operations
• 24x7 fire pump and DG operations
• RO plant, STP/ETP, and fresh water systems
• Rigging and yard operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 5–10 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a shipyard
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities
• Proficiency in maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• In-depth knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance
