Shift Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shift Engineer to oversee and manage production operations in our sheet metal manufacturing unit. The role requires supervising shift activities, ensuring smooth machine operations, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate production activities during the assigned shift. Ensure all machines (e.g., laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, CNCs) operate efficiently and effectively. Monitor daily production targets and take corrective actions to achieve output, quality, and delivery targets. Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of sheet metal equipment. Maintain accurate shift production records and report to higher management. Ensure proper implementation of 5S, lean manufacturing, and safety protocols. Minimize material wastage and rework through process monitoring and operator guidance. Collaborate with the quality team to address quality issues promptly. Train and support shift operators and workers on SOPs and safety procedures. Manage manpower planning and allocation during the shift. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering. 2–5 years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing / fabrication shop floor. Working knowledge of machines like CNC laser, turret punch press, press brake, and welding machines. Familiarity with production planning, quality systems, and ISO procedures. Hands-on experience with shift reporting and shop floor documentation. Key Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Good knowledge of sheet metal processes and tools. Ability to troubleshoot machine and production issues. Effective communication and decision-making abilities. Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle etc.).
