Key Responsibilities

1. Intermediate Support & Troubleshooting

  • Handle escalated issues from L1 support related to server or storage problems.
  • Diagnose and resolve moderately complex incidents involving server performance, storage availability, and user access.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures.

2. Server Administration

  • Deploy and configure physical/virtual servers (Windows/Linux).
  • Monitor performance and proactively prevent outages or bottlenecks.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks (patching, reboots, performance tuning).
  • Manage virtual environments (VM creation, snapshots, resource allocation).

3. Storage Administration

  • Manage SAN/NAS allocations and monitor disk space/RAID health.
  • Coordinate with L3 teams/vendors for firmware updates & system upgrades.

4. Backup & Recovery

  • Ensure daily backups complete successfully and troubleshoot failures.
  • Perform restoration requests and participate in recovery testing.

5. Security & Compliance

  • Apply security configurations and access controls on servers & storage.
  • Support audits with logs/configuration data and maintain compliance standards.

6. Documentation & Change Management

  • Maintain updated documentation on configs, incidents, and changes.
  • Follow change management for updates, migrations, or decommissions.

7. Collaboration & Escalation

  • Work with cross-functional teams (network, apps, L3 infra).
  • Escalate unresolved issues with detailed diagnostics.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects under senior guidance.

8. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Use monitoring tools to track uptime, performance & resource utilization.
  • Generate reports on system health and incidents.

Qualifications

  • 1–10 years of experience in server/storage administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux environments.
  • Hands-on with SAN/NAS, backup tools, and virtualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITIL/change management best practices.
  • Problem-solving and cross-team collaboration skills.
