Senior Structural Engineer

Qualification: B.Tech in Civil Engineering with Master’s in Structural Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer (Water Sector) to lead and execute the structural design and engineering aspects of large-scale urban infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in the structural design of water and wastewater treatment plants (WTP, STP), elevated and ground service reservoirs (ESR, GSR), underground drainage systems, and rising mains, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Analysis

● Lead the basic and detailed design of structural components for water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects, including WTPs, STPs, ESRs, GSRs, and related assets.

● Perform structural analysis and design using tools such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant software.

● Develop structural design philosophies, methodologies, and technical reports for project submissions and approvals.

● Prepare and review structural drawings, design reports, BOQs, and technical specifications in alignment with project requirements.

2. Technical Documentation & Review

● Prepare and review feasibility studies, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and tender documents for structural works.

● Conduct proof-checking and design validation to ensure compliance with IS codes, relevant standards, and client specifications.

● Evaluate structural safety, durability, and performance of materials and construction techniques proposed for use.

3. Coordination & Collaboration

● Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and civil design teams to ensure proper structural integration across disciplines.

● Work closely with contractors, site teams, and project managers during design development and implementation stages.

● Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers within the team.

4. Quality & Compliance

● Ensure all designs adhere to industry codes, local regulatory requirements, and best engineering practices.

● Conduct structural inspections, condition assessments, and retrofitting evaluations for existing structures and propose appropriate remedial solutions.

● Support internal and external audits, reviews, and client presentations with thorough technical justifications and documentation.

Skills & Competencies:

● Strong knowledge of structural design principles, analysis methods, and detailing practices for reinforced concrete and steel structures.

● Proficiency in ETABS, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software tools.

● Excellent understanding of IS codes, IRC, NBC, and international design standards where applicable.

● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

● Effective communication and coordination abilities across multidisciplinary teams.

● Ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

● Experience in urban infrastructure projects funded by government or multilateral agencies.

● Exposure to EPC, PMC, and DPR-based project delivery models.

● Hands-on experience in proof-checking and peer review of large infrastructure designs.

● Prior involvement in design automation, BIM integration, or digital design workflows will be an added advantage.
