Who are we looking for?

This position is a part of McDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions (MAES) R&D team. Primary purpose of this position will be to develop formulations of soldering /interconnecting and allied materials as per business requirements, evaluation of alternative raw materials in existing products, evaluation of products as per customer needs, operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments, documentation and presentation of test results.

What will you be doing?

• Use creative problem solving in the application of scientific research and development. Responsible for conducting applied research in Materials and Process Development.
• Utilize knowledge of analytical instrumentation, organic and synthetic chemistry, polymer science, materials science in developing industrially useful technologies across diverse industry sectors.
• Plan technical pathways to develop new products as per business requirements.
• Conduct experiments in the laboratory, including formulations and other sample preparation, product characterization, product performance and reliability testing as per project specifications or customer needs.
• Document laboratory procedures and results, analyze test data, prepare technical reports and documents following quality requirements of the organization.
• Present and discuss technical finding within work group and with internal/external customers.
• Maintain supply inventory, reorders as necessary.
• Supervise any assigned support staff.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure safety and cleanliness of the workplace.

Who are You?

• Ph D in Materials or Polymer Science with 1 – 2 years’ experience in industrial or academic research
• Or M Tech in Materials or Polymer Science with 8 – 10 years in experience in materials development industry.
• Excellent knowledge on resin chemistry (thermoplastic and thermoset), preferably on resin-based formulations or composites.
• Basic understanding of analytical techniques. Thorough knowledge of materials characterization and ability to take the ownership of various instruments will be preferred.

• PC skills, Microsoft Office.
• Awareness of safety, cleanliness, and quality.
