One-Page JD – Senior Planning Engineer (Solar EPC) – Primavera P6

Role Overview

Solar EPC

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

Develop Level-1 to Level-4 schedules in
Primavera P6
for utility-scale and rooftop solar projects.
Create full
WBS
, activities, logic links (FS/SS), calendars, constraints, and coding structure.
Prepare and maintain
baselines
, track schedule variance, and identify schedule slippages.
Analyze
critical path
, float, and provide mitigation measures.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

Weekly/monthly updates of the project schedule based on site progress.
Prepare
lookahead schedules (1W/2W/4W)
, S-curves, and Earned Value metrics (
SPI/CPI
).
Generate dashboards, progress reports, and variance analysis for internal and client reviews.

3. Procurement & Interface Coordination

Integrate procurement activities for modules, MMS, inverters, DC/AC cables, IDT, SCADA, etc., into P6.
Track vendor approvals, production, FAT, dispatch, and site delivery.
Align material deliveries with construction milestones to avoid delays.

4. Construction & Commissioning Planning

Plan and monitor major solar EPC work fronts:
Civil & MMS foundations
MMS/Tracker installation
Module mounting
DC/AC cable works
Inverter/IDT installation
SCADA, OFC, testing & commissioning
Support Project Manager with recovery and acceleration schedules.

Required Skills

Expert in
Primavera P6
(mandatory).
Strong knowledge of solar EPC execution sequence.
Proficient in MS Project, Excel dashboards, and reporting.
Understanding of drawings (SLD, MMS layout, DC/AC routing).
Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.

Qualifications

B.E / B.Tech
(Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Renewable Energy).
MBA – Project Management
preferred.
Primavera P6 certification is an advantage.

Preferred Experience

5+ years in Solar EPC project planning.
Experience in 50–500 MW utility-scale solar projects.
Capable of handling multi-site and fast-track execution environments.
