Senior Network Engineer – L3 (TPG-T Customer Support)

Job Purpose
The Senior Network Engineer (L3) is responsible for providing advanced technical support, configuration management, troubleshooting, and network operations for the TPG-T customer environment. The role ensures high network performance, service reliability, and compliance with operational SLAs through proactive fault management and end-to-end problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Operations & Support
- Perform L3-level troubleshooting for complex network issues impacting customer services.
- Handle fault and change management, including analysis, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and resolution.
- Ensure end-to-end service availability across data, voice, and transport networks.
- Manage outage situations, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for restoration.
- Provide technical escalation support for Level 1 and Level 2 teams.
- Configuration & Maintenance
- Manage configuration, deployment, and optimization of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).
- Perform software upgrades, patch management, and ensure compliance with network standards.
- Develop and maintain network documentation and design records.
- Network Design & Implementation
- Participate in network solution design, implementation, and integration of new technologies.
- Support MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and Layer 2/Layer 3 switching environments.
- Implement network security measures including VPNs, firewalls, and access control systems.
- Performance & Automation
- Utilize tools such as Wireshark, Netcool, Junos Space, and HP OpenView for monitoring and performance management.
- Perform capacity planning and recommend network improvements.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python or Ansible to streamline operations.
- Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with Technology Operations, Service Managers, Vendors, and Project Teams for technical delivery.
- Manage vendor escalations with Cisco, Juniper, F5, or other OEMs.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to service improvement plans.
Technical Skills Required
- Deep knowledge of Routing & Switching protocols: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, RIP, TCP/IP.
- Expertise in network devices and OS: Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, F5 Load Balancers, Cisco Wireless.
- Good understanding of security technologies: Firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS.
- Familiar with network analysis and diagnostic tools: Wireshark, MRTG, Cacti, Netcool, HP NNM.
- Intermediate knowledge of Unix Shell scripting and network automation (Python/Ansible).
- Understanding of internet protocols and services: IMAP, POP, SMTP, HTTP, LDAP, XML.

Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years in Network Engineering / Operations roles.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Cisco: CCNP / CCIP / CCSP / CCDP / CCIE
- Juniper: JNCIP
- Security: CCSA / CCSE (desirable)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Science.
