Senior Manager-Pricing Policy and Advocacy

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join the Communications & Government Affairs (CGA) team as a Manager specializing in Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy and Advocacy. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy, the Drug Price Control Order (DPCO), and their implementation to ensure full compliance and protect the company from violations. This individual will also engage with industry associations, government departments, and ministries to advocate on behalf of the company, while maintaining a keen understanding of vaccine policies and their implications for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

• Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategy for pricing, regulatory, IP, reimbursement and procurement policies
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership on regulatory updates, pricing trends, and advocacy efforts.
• Maintain a robust map of external stakeholders to engage for partnerships and policy advocacy

Compliance with Drug Price Regulations ( DPCO 2013) & Risk Management:

• Be conversant with National Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy and Drug Price Control Orders (DPCOs), including DPCO, 2013, and have a clear understanding of various DPCO provisions.
• Ability and Experience to monitor and conform compliance with the DPCOs
• Analyse government orders and prepare summary on its likely impact on the company
• Identify potential risks and implement strategies to on mitigation and corrective actions for futureproofing.
• Experience of handling matters on product discontinuation, price revisions, special price applications for innovative solutions as per DPCO provisions
• Experience to undertake examination of Over Charging cases, analysis and response to regulator as per the provisions of DPCO
• Comprehensive understanding of National List of Essential Medicine, its formation and enforcement
• Understanding of databases, primarily IPDMS and Pharmatrac and form filing in IPDMS
• Undertake examination of cases, tender-related work, and other tasks assigned by the competent authority.
• Represent industry and organization position with Government on revision of DPCO and Pricing Policy

Policy Advocacy:

• Represent the company in industry associations and forums to advocate for favourable policy changes.
• Drive coherent policy strategy across commercial and other divisions, both at Central and State levels.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government departments, ministries, and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop position papers and policy proposals.
• Stay updated on legislative and regulatory developments affecting pharmaceutical Industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of government policy development, enactment, and implementation particular in pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in India

Vaccine Policy Expertise:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of vaccine policies, Immunization programmes.
• Provide strategic insights to the business on vaccine-related regulations and market trends.
• Collaborate with the vaccine business unit to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for growth.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Law, Life Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field. Experience in Pharmaceutical and Pricing Regulation is Preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy and DPCO.
• Proven experience in engaging with government departments, ministries, and industry associations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess policy and regulatory changes and their business impact.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with pricing tools and frameworks used in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong network and relationships within the regulatory and policy-making ecosystem.
• Experience in handling vaccine-related projects or portfolios.
• Knowledge of international pricing regulations and their implications on local markets.
