Drive strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and cost optimization to ensure robust supply readiness in alignment with engineering, development, and customer program timelines. Strengthen supply base capability, ensure compliance to quality/technical standards (APQP, PPAP, IATF), and build long-term, reliable supplier relationships that support business growth.Key Responsibilities1. Sourcing & Vendor Development

  • Identify, research, evaluate and onboard potential suppliers/job work partners for new and existing components.
  • Assess supplier capabilities in machining, fabrication, heat treatment, surface finishing, assemblies, and precision auto-component manufacturing.
  • Conduct technical and commercial due diligence, plant audits and supplier capability studies (capacity, quality, process robustness, financial stability).
  • Develop and maintain a strong vendor network capable of supporting product launches and volume scalability.

2. RFQ Management, Pricing & Negotiation

  • Lead RFQ process for new components, ensuring accurate technical understanding and commercial benchmarking.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, tooling costs, job work rates, and service agreements to secure best value.
  • Ensure cost competitiveness through market intelligence, should-cost analysis, alternative sourcing, and long-term agreements.
  • Support early-stage development programs with aggressive cost and timeline targets.

3. Supplier Performance, Quality & Compliance

  • Monitor supplier performance on QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with PPAP, APQP, IATF 16949, process capability and overall technical requirements.
  • Work with Quality Assurance teams to resolve supplier non-conformances, delays, defects, and capacity issues.
  • Conduct periodic vendor audits, requalification assessments, and risk evaluations.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, NPD and Operations teams to understand product specifications and technical requirements.
  • Align procurement activities with APQP milestones, customer SOP dates, and internal build schedules.
  • Support engineering change management by coordinating supplier readiness, proto samples, and tooling development.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning Control (PPC) to maintain optimal inventory and ensure smooth production flow.

5. Cost Management & Market Intelligence

  • Analyze commodity trends, supplier cost drivers, and industry benchmarks to identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Prepare procurement budgets for new projects and ensure adherence to planned cost targets.
  • Drive VA/VE initiatives with suppliers to reduce cost without compromising quality or performance.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers/job work partners.
  • Resolve escalations promptly while maintaining professional and constructive engagement.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, materials, machining processes, and supply chain engineering advancements.
