Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong focus on search engine technologies and functional business analysis to join our product innovation team. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams by translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable functional specifications. With a deep understanding of search algorithms, information retrieval, user intent, and data-driven decision-making, you will play a critical role in enhancing search experiences, optimizing search relevance, and driving product innovation across digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for search engine enhancements, including ranking logic, query understanding, autocomplete, faceted search, and personalization.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and data scientists to define search use cases, user journeys, and success metrics.
• Conduct user research, competitive analysis, and A/B testing to identify pain points and opportunities in the search experience.
• Create detailed functional specifications, user stories, wireframes, process flows, and acceptance criteria for search-related features.
• Work closely with engineering and QA teams to ensure accurate implementation and validation of search functionality.
• Monitor search performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or custom dashboards), and provide insights on query logs, click-through rates, and conversion metrics.
• Support the design and implementation of search relevance tuning, including configuration of ranking factors, filters, synonyms, and boosting rules.
• Partner with data and machine learning teams to evaluate and integrate AI/ML models for query understanding, semantic search, and personalization.
• Facilitate workshops, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and UAT sessions to ensure alignment across teams.
• Maintain traceability of requirements and ensure compliance with product and business objectives.
• Stay current with emerging trends in search technology, natural language processing (NLP), and enterprise search platforms.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 3 years focused on search engine technologies, information architecture, or digital product experience.
• Proven experience in analyzing and improving search functionality in enterprise or consumer-facing applications.
• Strong understanding of search engine principles, including indexing, crawling, ranking algorithms, and relevance scoring.
• Experience with enterprise search platforms such as Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, Azure Cognitive Search, or Google Cloud Search is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Visio, Lucidchart, or similar for documentation and modeling.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in fast-paced, iterative development environments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
