Ltd. (Ashland LLC, Specialty ingredients G.P., ISP Chemicals etc.) business at our Mumbai, Maharashtra. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D function. This position will report to Technical Service Manager
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and synthesize alkyd resins using various raw materials (fatty acids, polyols, polyacids etc).
- Optimize resin properties such as viscosity, drying time, hardness, and gloss for targeted applications.
- Conduct chemical and physical testing of resins (acid value, hydroxyl value, molecular weight etc.).
- Formulate paints to evaluate alkyd resin samples.
- Evaluate performance in coatings systems (adhesion, durability, weather resistance).
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and maintain accurate lab records.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
- Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others
What This Role Is Not
- Not a management position – while you will collaborate with other team members, this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports
- Not an office based role – You will spend a majority of your time at the lab bench, conducting experiments and handling chemicals
In order to be qualified for this role, youmust possessthe following:

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in alkyd resin synthesis and.

- The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
The following skill sets arepreferredby the business unit
:
- Experience with waterborne alkyds, high-solid systems, or bio-based raw materials.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (REACH, VOC compliance).
