Job Summary
SAP Tax Consultant – Europe
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain
SAP tax procedures
for European countries (e.g., DE, FR, UK, IT, ES, NL, BE, Nordics). - Manage
VAT determination, calculation, and posting
across Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycles. - Configure and support:
- Tax codes, tax rates, condition records
- Input & output tax, reverse charge, triangulation
- EU intra-company and cross-border transactions
- Support
SAP ECC and S/4HANA
tax functionality during: - Implementations
- Rollouts
- Upgrades and production support
- Ensure compliance with
European VAT regulations
and country-specific reporting requirements. - Configure and support
EU VAT reporting
including: - EC Sales List (ECSL)
- Intrastat
- SAF-T / local statutory reports (where applicable)
- Integrate SAP with
third-party tax engines
(e.g., Vertex, Avalara, Thomson Reuters, Taxmarc) if applicable. - Collaborate with Finance, SD, MM, and Logistics teams to ensure accurate tax determination.
- Support tax audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
- Prepare functional specifications and support testing (unit, integration, UAT).
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years
of hands-on experience as an SAP Tax / Indirect Tax Consultant
- Strong knowledge of
European VAT regulations
- Hands-on SAP configuration experience in:
- SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA Finance
- Tax procedures and tax determination logic
- Strong integration knowledge with
SD, MM, FI modules
- Experience handling
EU cross-border trade scenarios
- Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into SAP tax solutions
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills
Good to Have
- Experience with
Taxmarc, Vertex, Avalara, or Thomson Reuters
- Exposure to
S/4HANA migration or conversion projects
- Knowledge of
digital tax reporting
and real-time VAT reporting - Prior experience in
shared services or global rollout projects
- SAP certification in FI / S/4HANA Finance
