JOB TITLE Quantity Surveyor-MEP,
PAN INDIA
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to support quantity surveying activities related to MEP works on assigned building and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have experience in measurement and cost estimation of MEP systems such as HVAC, firefighting, SCADA, CCTV, telecom, plumbing, drainage, and electrical systems. A good understanding of quantity surveying principles, local project requirements, government regulations, and industry best practices is essential. The role involves assisting in the preparation of fairly accurate priced and unpriced Bills of Quantities and estimates for various building and infrastructure projects.
KEY COMPETENCY – Technical Skills
Key Responsibilities – Quantity Surveyor (MEP)
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for infrastructure and building projects, ensuring accurate measurement and estimation of items and quantities for MEP systems (including HVAC, firefighting, SCADA, CCTV, telecom, plumbing, drainage, and electrical works) based on project specifications and drawings.
- Support the preparation of detailed quantity takeoffs and basic cost breakdowns for project components during various project stages, under the guidance of senior Quantity Surveyors or project leads.
- Develop a working knowledge of market rates for key MEP-related materials and services, assisting in the collection and validation of price data.
- Update and maintain cost and quantity databases with current project and market information, ensuring records are accurate and readily accessible for project teams.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of MEP systems and construction processes and apply this knowledge to support project teams with quantity surveying tasks.
KEY COMPETENCY – Soft Skills
- Show proficiency in industry-standard software like iTWO Cost X, Bluebeam Revu, REVIT, AutoCAD, and MS Office. Experience with other MEP software is a plus.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including CESMM3, NRM, POMI, and Indian codes, under the guidance of senior staff.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate within a team and follow instructions from senior Quantity Surveyors or project leads.
- Basic understanding of relevant infrastructure construction regulations and standards.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in assigned tasks.
Additional Expectations
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and construction teams to clarify measurement requirements and resolve discrepancies in drawings or specifications.
- Assist in reviewing contractor and supplier quotations for consistency with BOQs and project requirements.
- Ensure that all quantity surveying activities are conducted in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations as specified by senior staff.
- Maintain attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables, supporting the timely and successful completion of project milestones.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate technical skills in assisting with the preparation of Bill of Quantities and cost estimates for a range of infrastructure and building projects, working collaboratively as part of a larger project team.
- Support quantity take-off and validation of quantities and estimates for MEP items under the guidance of senior staff.
- Apply a clear understanding of work procedures and contribute to achieving project completion within established timeframes and budgets.
- Work effectively under supervision to meet deadlines, ensuring assigned tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Communicate with counterparts in the lead office or with clients as required, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather project information.
- Take the initiative to consult experienced quantity surveyors and get involved in training sessions to further develop your professional abilities.
- Demonstrate self-discipline in managing daily work allocation and contribute positively to team objectives.
Here's what you'll need
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Quantity Surveying and Cost Estimation in Infrastructure projects
- Experience working on projects in the Middle East, UK, and USA region is preferred.
