POSITION:- Quality and Environment System Engineer

Location: SRIPERMBUDUR
Reports To: PLANT HEAD/ MD
Department: Quality/Environmental/Operations

Job Summary:

The Quality and Environment System Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with quality and environmental standards, driving improvements in system performance, and implementing best practices for sustainability. This role involves managing, analyzing, and improving quality systems, environmental management processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of regulatory standards, quality assurance methodologies, and environmental compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet industry standards (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Conduct internal audits and lead the preparation for external audits.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics, ensuring that processes are continuously improved.
  • Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to develop and deploy corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Environmental Management:
  • Manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 and other relevant standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations.
  • Oversee waste management, energy consumption, water use, and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct environmental audits and ensure documentation is maintained.
  • Lead projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving resource efficiency.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
  • Stay up to date with environmental and quality regulations and ensure the company remains in compliance.
  • Maintain necessary documentation for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Support the organization in ensuring safety, environmental, and quality policies are being followed.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
  • Collect and analyze data related to quality and environmental systems performance.
  • Prepare and present reports on environmental performance and quality metrics to senior management.
  • Generate reports to support sustainability goals and performance indicators.
  • Training and Support:
  • Provide training on quality and environmental standards and systems to team members.
  • Work with department heads to ensure training initiatives are carried out effectively.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to teams on quality and environmental best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, focusing on both quality and environmental processes.
  • Implement lean manufacturing or Six Sigma techniques to improve product quality and reduce environmental impact.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability and quality excellence across the organization.
  • Supplier and Stakeholder Management:
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure they meet environmental and quality standards.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and collaborate on improving processes that align with sustainability goals.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage quality and environmental projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and objectives are met.
  • Develop project plans, track progress, and report on milestones.
  • Evolve and implement policies, procedures, SOPs, Measurable and Metrics for Quality, Environment and Safety systems based on Regulatory and Statutory requirements, customer requirements and management directions.
  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance to requirements. Update management of issues and ensure corrective and preventive actions.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • ISO Knowledge: Expertise in ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of global regulatory standards related to quality and environment (e.g., REACH, RoHS, GHS, etc.).
  • Data Analysis: Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation to drive decision-making.
  • Audit Experience: Experience conducting and preparing for audits, both internal and external.
  • Project Management: Strong skills in managing cross-functional projects, with the ability to lead teams and ensure timely delivery.
  • Environmental Impact: Knowledge of sustainability practices and the ability to drive initiatives to reduce environmental footprints.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex quality and environmental issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-experts.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and influence change across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in quality and environmental system engineering, with demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining QMS and EMS systems.
  • Certifications:
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or similar environmental certifications are preferred.
  • Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) is a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with quality and environmental management software and data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Minitab, etc.).
