Job Description

The QA/QC Head is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions within the food manufacturing plant. The role ensures stringent compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This position oversees all quality processes, audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high product quality and plant hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:Quality Assurance (QA):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO, FSSC, HACCP, and GMP.
  • Establish and review SOPs, work instructions, and quality policies for all departments.
  • Lead internal audits, external audits, regulatory inspections, and customer audits.
  • Monitor compliance with food safety programs, CCPs, OPRPs, and hygiene standards.
  • Approve raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods as per quality parameters.

Quality Control (QC):

  • Oversee day-to-day quality checks for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Ensure calibration of lab equipment and accuracy of test results.
  • Verify product specifications, shelf-life studies, nutritional analysis, and microbiological tests.
  • Ensure traceability, batch coding accuracy, and defect analysis.

Leadership & Coordination:

  • Lead QA/QC team, including executives, supervisors, and lab technicians.
  • Provide training on quality standards, hygiene, CCP monitoring, documentation, and safety.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce customer complaints and enhance product consistency.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Ensure complete compliance with FSSAI regulations and documentation.
  • Maintain all statutory records and ensure timely updates of licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Oversee supplier audits, vendor quality assessments, and raw material qualification.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain and review quality reports, deviation reports, non-conformance reports (NCR), CAPA, and root-cause analysis (RCA).
  • Present monthly quality review reports to senior management.
  • Ensure robust documentation for traceability, recalls, and product complaints.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in QA/QC roles .
  • Strong knowledge of ISO22000, FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, GHP, and food safety regulations.
  • Expertise in microbiology, chemical testing, process controls, and quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to handle customer audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Proficiency in documentation, problem-solving, and CAPA management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage high-pressure quality situations.
  • Willingness to take full responsibility for plant quality performance.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

NOTE: Food manufacturing experience person preferred.
