Purchase Head – FMCG

Position Overview:
The Purchase Head for FMCG is responsible for developing and managing procurement strategies, ensuring timely availability of raw materials, packaging materials, and other goods required for production and distribution. This role focuses on achieving cost savings, maintaining quality standards, building vendor relationships, and ensuring smooth supply chain operations in alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:1. Procurement Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the business's short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Analyze market trends to forecast material requirements and manage supply risks.
  • Establish benchmarks for cost, quality, and delivery performance.

2. Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers/vendors for raw materials, packaging, and other requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms to achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliability and quality.

3. Operational Procurement

  • Oversee daily procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Monitor stock levels and work closely with inventory teams to optimize inventory management.
  • Resolve issues related to order discrepancies, delivery delays, or quality complaints.

4. Cost and Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the procurement budget to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Continuously identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

5. Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in procurement activities.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports, including spend analysis and supplier performance metrics.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain dynamics, and market trends in FMCG.
  • Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
