Purchase Engineer

Role Overview

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for managing procurement activities and coordinating logistics operations to ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of raw materials, equipment, and finished products. This role involves developing supplier relationships, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards within the aluminium manufacturing sector.

✅ Key Responsibilities

◾ Procurement & Purchasing:

▫️ Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials, consumables, and equipment specific to aluminium production.

▫️ Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts to secure favorable conditions.

Manage purchase orders, ensure accurate documentation, and monitor order status.

◾ Logistics & Supply Chain Management:

▫️ Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

▫️ Optimize transportation routes, freight costs, and delivery schedules.

▫️ Liaise with freight forwarders, customs, and warehouse teams to ensure compliance and efficiency.

◾ Inventory Control:

▫️ Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.

▫️ Implement inventory tracking systems and conduct regular stock audits.

◾ Supplier Relationship Management:

▫️ Develop strong relationships with suppliers and logistics providers.

▫️ Monitor supplier performance and address issues proactively.

◾ Compliance & Documentation:

▫️ Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

▫️ Maintain accurate records of procurement and logistics activities.

◾ Continuous Improvement:

▫️ Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and reduce costs.

▫️ Implement best practices in supply chain processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

🔸 Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field.

🔸 Proven experience in procurement and logistics within the aluminium or heavy manufacturing industry.

🔸 Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

🔸 Familiarity with ERP and supply chain management software
