Project Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview

The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs related to civil engineering and construction projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. The role involves cost control, valuation, quantity take-off, rate analysis, and preparation of client and subcontractor bills in compliance with contract terms and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications for project budgeting and procurement.
• Develop and maintain BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and rate analysis for various project items.
• Monitor and control project costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
• Prepare client RA bills, measurement sheets, and certification of work progress.
• Review and verify subcontractor bills and quantities as per site execution.
• Support tendering and estimation teams with quantity and rate inputs for new bids.
• Assist in change order / variation claim preparation with supporting data.
• Coordinate with project engineers, planning, and procurement teams for accurate material and cost tracking.
• Maintain records of material consumption, labour productivity, and cost deviations.
• Participate in site inspections and ensure quantities reflect actual work executed.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and assist in cash flow forecasting.
• Ensure all QS documentation complies with company and client contractual requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Diploma in Civil with strong QS experience may also apply)

Experience:

• 3–8 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Billing Engineer / Cost Engineer, preferably in metro, road, tunnel, or large civil infrastructure projects.

Skills Required:

• Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project / Primavera, and estimation software.
• Sound understanding of civil drawings, standard specifications, and construction methods.
• Strong knowledge of contract conditions, variation claims, and BOQ management.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple project stakeholders.
