About the Role – Program Leader (Primary Level)
design, lead, and sustain
Reporting & Collaboration
Reports To: Mukesh, Director – Umang Democratic School.
Direct Reports: Primary teachers (Grades K–2), and early years assistants (as assigned).
Key Collaborations:
Academic Team: For curriculum co-design and assessments.
Community Engagement Team: For parent partnerships and field activities.
Operations Team: For timetables, logistics, and budgeting support.
Child Well-being & Inclusion Team: For student socio-emotional support and inclusive education.
Director’s Office: For program strategy, documentation, and monitoring.
Together, these teams co-create a nurturing ecosystem where teachers, students, and families learn with and from each other.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Excellence
- Design and implement
context-driven, experiential curriculum
aligned with NCERT/NCF and Umang’s pedagogy. - Create
interdisciplinary unit plans
that connect learning to real-life contexts. - Integrate
SEL, arts, play, and nature-based learning
into the daily program.
2. Instructional Leadership
- Mentor teachers in
lesson planning, facilitation, and child-centered assessment
. - Run
observation–feedback and reflective practice cycles
for teachers. - Strengthen
inclusive practices
for diverse learners.
3. School & Community Leadership
- Build systems for smooth curriculum delivery and school operations.
- Foster a
collaborative, democratic culture
for teachers and students. - Engage
parents and community members
as active partners in learning.
4. Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage
timetables, schedules, and daily school operations
to ensure smooth functioning. - Support in
enrollment, admissions, and documentation
for primary classes. - Maintain
attendance, student records, and assessment data
systematically. - Coordinate with vendors, resource persons, and local service providers when required.
- Assist in
budget planning, resource allocation, and procurement
for the primary program. - Ensure
safety, compliance, and basic infrastructure needs
of classrooms are met.
Who We’re Looking For
Qualification:
M.A. in Education, APU/Teach For India alumni, or equivalent.Experience:
4–5 years in teaching, curriculum design, or academic leadership (preferably in progressive/alternative schools).- Strong grounding in
primary pedagogy, child development, and experiential learning
. - Excellent
curriculum design & teacher coaching
skills. - Proficiency in
English and Hindi (spoken & written).
- A deep commitment to
democratic, inclusive, and rural education.
