Job Description of Program Associate - Economic Justice Programme

Job Title: Program Associate- Economic Justice Programme

Reporting To: Programme co-ordinator

Maitrayana, (meaning kindness, benevolence, good will, compassion) is a Section 8 (not-for-profit) company that uses sport to achieve gender equality.

Maitrayana leverages the power of sport to create ecosystems that empower girls and women to fulfil their potential. The pillars of Maitrayana’s work are: 1) enabling leadership in Adolescent girls and young women, 2) synergising communities to support adolescent girls and young women in becoming changemakers in their community, 3) forging collaborations with the government, businesses, NGOs to create an ecosystem.

Maitrayana implements the Young People’s Initiative (YPI) a sport for development programme that empowers adolescent girls and young women to realise their potential. The focus of the YPI interventions is on providing access to and safe spaces in sport for adolescent girls and young women in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. YPI’s economic justice programme works with young women to improve their access to economic opportunities. This programme works with young women to pursue their economic empowerment goals by acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviour, experience and support from mentors, parents and the industry to achieve their goals.

We are looking for an individual who is excited to contribute to building the organisation based on the values integrity, transparency, respect and inclusion.

Position Based in: Delhi or Mumbai

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Plan and Implementation

Overall in charge of the development, planning and implementation of the Economic Justice Programme in all three cities in accordance with the proposals (Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru). This would include -

● working in schools and communities to conduct outreach and awareness, to enrol participants in the EJ programme.

● networking and partnering with institutes that provide hard/vocational skills and employers who can provide industry exposure, internships and jobs

● creating and facilitating the sessions/workshops on education, employability and entrepreneurship with young women

● preparation of calendars of the sessions, ensuring delivery of modules within scheduled timelines

● Counselling and mentoring of young women registered in the programme

● Exploring and organising exposure tours to potential corporate houses for workplace readiness training

2. Supervision of staff

● Recruitment and supervision of staff

● Capacity building, training, ongoing support and mentoring of the staff

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

● Reporting, documentation (monthly and quarterly reports with MIS, case studies and Most significant change stories), data collections, regular monitoring of implementation of program, data analysis

● Responsible for the overall management of the data of participants

● Explore innovative strategies to capture programme’s impact on participants

4. Stakeholder management

● Responsible for representation of the organisation and rapport building with all the stakeholders of the economic justice programme.

● Build and maintain contact with external stakeholders for providing internship/job placements to participants.

Essential Candidate Profile and Requirements:

● Post-Graduation in social work with specialisation in counselling or any other social sciences/management.

● Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience of working with adolescent girls and youth in gender/ sports/counselling/life skills delivery

● Strong project management and decision making skills.

● Strong people skills, and experience in dealing with a multicultural team.

● Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in local languages required.

● Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

● High levels of integrity and loyalty, and demonstrating initiative Salary: 35,000 to 45,000 INR per month
