Primary Function
The Production Supervisor supports the PVC manufacturing operations by managing production activities and work flow directly, or in cooperation with other supervisors, to deliver a high quality product, on time, and at the lowest possible cost. First Line coaching and supervision of process technicians in regards to: establishing daily expectations, resource management, teamwork and collaboration, conflict resolution, skill development, and adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
This position may require any of the following functions:
- Performs daily supervision of process operations to maintain work flow in a safe, productive and cooperative work environment
- Ensures operations are conducted in accordance with permits, regulations, operating procedures, operational parameters, production schedules, grade changes, engineering objectives, etc.
- Ensures inventory control of required materials
- Issues permits to perform work and assess hazards and risks
- Analyzes production data to identify trends
- Participates in advanced troubleshooting of process and equipment problems that occur during daily production activities and develops corrective actions; coaches others to learn these skills
- Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure reliability of equipment by preparing process and equipment for transfer of custody, shutdowns, etc.
- Review, create, and recommend changes, to systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, historical records, administrative and engineering controls to ensure process optimization and continuous improvement
- Coordinates inspections, performs reviews / audits
- Ensures general housekeeping
- Reports / investigates incidents and takes appropriate corrective action
- Assists in training personnel in processes and equipment use
- Evaluates employee performance and provides constructive feedback; makes recommendations for employee development
- Facilitates resolution of personnel problems and escalates as required
- Makes recommendations for employment decisions (hiring, disciplining, etc.)
- Supports and Backs-up other production supervisor as needed
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Assistant and/or Production Superintendent
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A high school diploma and five (5) years of production experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is required. An Associate’s Degree in Process Technology or related field is preferred.
Job Qualifications
- Must be qualified in all areas of current assigned plant
- Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred (i.e. step-up)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a certificate of Basic Industrial Fire Fighting Skills annually and be an active member of the K-Bin/Shintech Fire Brigade
- Knowledge of and commitment to safe working practices, programs, regulations, etc.
- Knowledge of and commitment to environmental practices, programs, regulations, etc.
- Advanced troubleshooting / problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willing and able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends and holidays) and work overtime when needed.

Physical Requirements
Candidate must be able to:
- Lift up-to 50 pounds, lift hoses, bolt flanges, and operate valves and similar equipment routinely.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Climb stairs/ladders and work at heights.
- Comply with respirator fit tests (where applicable).
- Bend, reach, stoop, crouch, and lift frequently.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, hard hat, and steel-toed boots.
Work Environment
- PVC manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals.
- Occasionally work in tight or closed-in spaces.
- Work outdoors, in sometimes inclement weather.
- Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment.
