We have an exciting opportunity for an I & E Maintenance Technician at our Freeport, TX location! Primary Function The Instrument and Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair services of all instruments, control systems, electrical equipment and/or process analyzers at the facility. As a support service provider, this role requires the ability to successfully collaborate across multiple departments. Duties & Responsibilities Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions: Develop the scope of each work order. Procure all required material, outside contract services, rental equipment and specialized tools to include emphasis on all the requirements of company specification and PSM programs. Coordinates and performs repairs of instrument and electrical systems throughout the plants. Meets daily with production, engineering and management personnel to review work orders for instrument and electrical repairs. Provide responsive maintenance services to the site by completing scheduled work orders. Proactively inspects operating areas making note of needed repairs. Provide guidance to contract maintenance and construction projects, as assigned. Calibrates and trouble shoots systems using drawings, field inspections, system readings, and input from other departments. Make recommendations to the Maintenance Team on any corrective measures that will result in greater efficiency, quality and economy of operations. Maintains preventative maintenance and maintenance programs including: scheduling, preparing paperwork, updating and filing. Performs technical diagnosis and repair of site assets in the most cost-efficient manner. Ensures tools, parts, and all equipment are safe and in effective working order. Responsible for communicating and securing work permits and associated safety equipment to perform work. Maintains good housekeeping in maintenance shop and assigned work site. Accountable for parts checked out of inventory, salvage of good parts and proper disposal of bad parts. Inspects repairs to ensure work is complete and any anticipated changes are conveyed to engineering and management. Ensures daily work meets EHS compliance and supports continuous improvement in EHS performance. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an Industrial or Chemical Manufacturing Environment is required. An Associate’s degree in Instrumentation, Engineering, Electrical Technology or similar concentration is preferred. Two or more years of experience in inspecting, testing, adjusting and repair of electric, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic instruments is preferred. Experience with typical industrial low voltage systems, wiring schematics and loop drawings, 480v motors and switch gear. Job Qualifications Knowledge of relevant technical equipment, reliability drivers and troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of PLC and variable speed drives. Knowledge of EHS and process safety standards, regulations and best practices. Knowledge of industry accepted maintenance standards, procedures, and accepted best practices. Ability to apply problem solving techniques to improve work assignment efficiency and effectiveness. Exercise sound decision making, and judgment aligned with department objectives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to modify individual approach situationally. Ability to work overtime and on nights, weekends, or holidays, as necessary. Physical Requirements Candidate must be able to: Lift up-to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds frequently. Stand or walk for extended periods of time. Climb stairs/ladders and work at heights. Comply with respirator fit tests (where applicable). Bend, reach, and stoop frequently. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, hard hat, and steel-toed boots. Work Environment PVC manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals. Occasionally work in tight or closed-in spaces. Work outdoors, in sometimes inclement weather. Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment.
