In total, we have multinational staff of more than 400 working in Transmission& Distribution (T&D) field around the world.In line with our increasing business, we are looking for qualified and experienced candidates forSenior Transmission Power Systems Engineer to join our APAC T&D team. This role reports tothe T&D System Studies Asia Department and can be based in any of our offices in India,Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, or Indonesia.
Context:
Our T&D Power Systems team assists clients in achieving compliance and efficiency byconducting power systems studies to navigate the design, grid connection and access standardsfor their energy generation and transmission projects. You will become part of a global, tight-knitteam of power systems engineers engaged in diverse projects supporting multiple type ofinternational interconnection and grid connection projects (including solar, wind, hydro, batteryenergy storage, and HVDC interconnectors).Our team also provides technical assistance to Transmission Grid Operators (TSOs) and utilities,helping the private sector secure crucial grid investments through expert technical support. Regular working days:
Mon-Fri., 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
Responsibility:
- Conduct advanced power system studies (steady-state load flow, short-circuit, and dynamic stability analyses) for generation grid connection projects and transmission planning studies (feasibility and design stages). Projects will be primarily across Asia-Pacific, but also in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
- Perform power system modelling and analysis for generation grid connection studies, including solar, wind, hydro, thermal and energy storage systems.
- Prepare comprehensive study reports, ranging from connection feasibility studies for energy developers to detailed static and dynamic connection studies for utilities, as well as other power systems studies related to distributed generation integration and grid augmentation.
- Deliver high-quality outputs within agreed parameters, formats, and timelines, and review the work of other employees when necessary.
- Conduct complex assessments, provide specialist advice/solutions and training, conduct technical presentations to internal and external clients.
- Engage in technical developmental activities, including attending conferences and participating in industry presentations.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems or related field).
- Having 3-5 years of relevant working experience in power system modeling and analysis for grid connections and transmission projects. This should include hands-on experience with generation interconnection feasibility studies, transmission planning, and network stability assessments, ideally in a utility/TSO or power engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven knowledge and experience on performing complex transmission power system studies such as: steady state analysis, short circuit analysis, transient stability analysis, generator model validation. Any additional experience on the following fields is beneficial: electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations, cable design, protection coordination and relay settings studies, harmonic analysis, small signal stability, adequacy studies and probabilistic approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in power system simulation software DigSILENT Power Factory, including automation with Python scripting. Any additional proven capabilities in other power system studies tools such as Siemens PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP etc. is beneficial.
- Experience working closely with or within transmission utilities/TSOs on interconnection projects or advanced grid studies (e.g. cross-border interconnectors, renewable energy integration, large-scale battery storage projects).
- Having experience and knowledge of the Indonesian or Malaysian Power System background and stakeholders is beneficial.
- Familiar with international grid codes and standards (e.g. IEC, IEEE) relevant to transmission planning and grid connection requirements.
- Ability to manage tasks effectively under time and resource constraints, delivering results with good quality even under pressure.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), as this role involves liaising with international teams and clients.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent credentials in any of the above-mentioned countries is an advantage (but not required).
