Job Title: General Manager – Operation & Maintenance (O&M)
Location: Butibori, Nagpur, Maharashtra
Experience: Minimum 18–22 years in a continuous process/industrial manufacturing setup (Preferably Solar Manufacturing, Chemical industry)
Role Purpose:
The GM-O&M will drive reliability, preventive maintenance culture, energy efficiency, and statutory compliance while managing multidisciplinary maintenance functions including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility services.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Plant Operations – Reliability & Availability
- Achieved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) > 85% and Machine Availability > 98% by implementing robust Operations & Maintenance (O&M) practices.
- Lead the operations and maintenance of critical plant utility systems, including:
- Process Gas Systems and Specialty Gas Handling (PH3/BCL3/SiH4/TMA/H2/etc
- Process Chemical Handling
- HVAC and Clean Room Management
- Boilers, Compressors, Chillers, DG Sets
- Water Treatment Systems (DI/DM, RO, Potable Water)
- Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
- Process Equipment for continuous manufacturing operations
- Manage the Electrical Infrastructure across voltage levels:
- 132–33 kV Switchyard, 33–11 kV HT, and 415–230 V LT systems (both upstream and downstream).
- Continuously monitor and analyse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including:
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Equipment Downtime Reports
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability, availability, and cost-efficiency.
2. Maintenance Strategy & Execution
- Implemented Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-Based Maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Developed and executed Annual Maintenance Plans, including planned shutdowns and long-term reliability improvement programs aligned with plant performance goals.
- Led and supervised critical equipment repairs and overhauls, ensuring minimal unplanned breakdowns and reduced downtime through effective resource planning and root cause analysis.
3. Asset Management & Compliance
- Ensured statutory inspections and certifications for critical assets including pressure vessels, lifting tools, boilers, and other regulated equipment in compliance with safety and legal standards.
- Led Asset Lifecycle Management, covering:
- AMC/ARC contracts
- Equipment health audits
- Asset renewal and replacement planning
- Maintained comprehensive technical documentation, including:
- Asset registers
- Maintenance logs
- Inspection and compliance records to support audits and continuous improvement efforts.
4. Team Leadership & Skill Development
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of maintenance engineers, shift technicians, and contract manpower to ensure efficient plant operations and maintenance execution.
- Establish KPI-based performance evaluation systems, implemented skill enhancement programs, and conducted Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) training to build technical competency and accountability.
- Ensure 24/7 plant reliability through effective shift planning, resource allocation, and proactive workforce coordination.
5. Vendor, Spares & Contract Management
- Develop strategic vendor partnerships for critical O&M services.
- Drive procurement of critical and non-critical spares, consumables, and capex tools.
- Ensure inventory optimization using ABC analysis and lead-time control.
6. Safety, Energy & Cost Efficiency
- Implement electrical and mechanical safety protocols, LOTO, PTW systems, and hazard elimination programs.
- Lead energy conservation measures, fuel optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Track and reduce maintenance cost per MT/ton of production through Lean TPM practices.
7. Project Support & Plant Expansion
- Provide technical leadership for plant upgradation, modernization, and debottlenecking projects.
- Collaborate with Projects/Engineering team during greenfield or brownfield expansions.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Educational Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. – Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering
- Certifications (preferred): Six Sigma, TPM, Energy Auditor/Manager, NEBOSH

- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex issues in industrial plant operations and utility systems.
- Hands-on leadership with a high sense of ownership and decisive action under high-pressure and time-critical situations.
- In-depth expertise in utility systems, plant automation, and PLC/SCADA-based control systems for efficient operation and monitoring.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional coordination skills, enabling effective collaboration with operations, quality, and safety teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance and audit readiness, including interactions with CPCB/MPCB, Factory Inspector, Boiler Inspector, and Electrical Inspector authorities.
