Role summary

End-to-end ownership of plant operations: production planning, quality, HSE, manpower, cost control and continuous improvement to meet production & OEE targets for mineral / refractory / flux manufacturing units.

Key responsibilities

• Plan & achieve monthly production, yield and quality targets; manage scheduling, capacity planning and shift rosters.
• Implement TPM / Kaizen / process improvement programs to increase throughput and reduce waste.
• Own plant P&L levers: raw material optimization, energy consumption, yield & scrap reduction.
• Ensure strict statutory compliance (Factory Act, EHS, pollution consent) and lead safety programs (incident reduction).
• Manage plant team: supervisors, maintenance, QA/QC, store, and production staff; develop and retain talent.
• Coordinate maintenance strategy (preventive, predictive), RM procurement & spare parts availability.
• Liaise with commercial team for order fulfilment commitments and with R&D for process/product optimization.
• Drive digital reporting (production dashboards), root cause investigations, and CAPA closure.

Must-have

• Strong mechanical/process engineering background; proven track record in brownfield plant operations.
• People management (50–200 headcount) and shift operations experience.
• Hands-on with production equipment, maintenance planning and quality systems (ISO/TS desirable).
• Good understanding of statutory compliance and environmental rules.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with refractory or flux manufacturing, and energy-intensive operations.
• Certification in Lean / Six Sigma / TPM.

KPIs

• Production vs plan, OEE, product yield, production cost per ton, downtime reduction, safety metrics (LTIFR), and defect rates.
